NEW ORLEANS - Police shot eight people carrying guns on a New Orleans bridge Sunday, killing five or six of them, a deputy chief said.
Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said the shootings took place on the Danziger Bridge, which connects Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.
He said he had no other details.
An MSNBC report earlier in the day said rescue helicopter personnel when they are lowered to rescue people, are finding drunk people, and people armed with guns. This report was by Ron Blum.
MSNBC says AP is reporting New Orleans police shot and killed 6 armed people on the Danzig (sp) bridge. The reporter said, "it is unclear, unclear at this point, whether the police were fired upon."
Wait until we find out they were muslims too.

Even so, it's going to be hard to find justification for killing SIX people. This smells bad of overreaction.
Couldn't come up with a more appropriate description for late-coming security forces, as they were not there on time to maintain the peace.
say what you will about the incompetence of the NOPD..these guys must be the good guys..who else, after losing everything (as I assume they did) would still be on the job trying to get their city back? If they were fired on first, which I believe they had to be..I can't believe they'd just open up, and fired in self-defense..CNN still hasn't had additional info..just that several dead after being seen walking across the bridge holding guns..DANG I wish I had FOX at this hotel..

If they were armed and threatening the police or other citizens, then they got what was comin' to them. But why do some Freepers who hate when Blacks turn everything into a "Race Issue" turn everything into a race issue?

HOWEVER,there is the possibility this was a "friendly fire"incident where one LEO fired on another one by mistake.

it's over-reaction if only 1 of the 8 were firing and they killed 6..but my money says they were all armed and all firing..
Arthel Neville (I assume a daugther or siser of Aaron Neville) told Greta Van Sustren on the air last night that a Nat'l Guardsman was shot and killed at the superdome. They couldn't keep that bad story off the air because it was live, but you will notice there has been no more play of it.
She also said that a guy raped and killed a young girl and then others killed the rapist.
She said that her sister had seen this stuff at the superdome.
Needless to say, I"m glad it was the New Orleans police and not the National Guard or active duty military involved in this. But either way, the cops better be black if they shot blacks.
