Poll: Bush Not Taking Brunt of Katrina Criticism
ABC NEWS ^ | 09/04/05 | GARY LANGER

Posted on 09/04/2005 8:54:31 AM PDT by Pikamax

Sept. 4, 2005 — Americans are broadly critical of government preparedness in the Hurricane Katrina disaster — but far fewer take George W. Bush personally to task for the problems, and public anger about the response is less widespread than some critics would suggest.

Sampling, data collection and tabulation for this poll were done by TNS.

In an event that clearly has gripped the nation — 91 percent of Americans are paying close attention — hopefulness far outweighs discontent about the slow-starting rescue. And as in so many politically charged issues in this country, partisanship holds great sway in views of the president's performance.

The most critical views cross jurisdictions: Two-thirds in this ABC News/Washington Post poll say the federal government should have been better prepared to deal with a storm this size, and three-quarters say state and local governments in the affected areas likewise were insufficiently prepared.

Here is an interesting quote from Barack Obama, he actually sounds quite reasonable compared to the other moonbats.

But Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., took a more measured approach, saying in Chicago that while it was not a coincidence that so many blacks were left behind in New Orleans, it is not a conspiracy.

"What's true in this country is what's true across the world, which is in the midst of natural disasters the poor and the vulnerable end up getting hit the hardest," he said.

I'm telling you, this guy is going to be the one Democrat that looks good out of this, he actually makes some sense.

The blame game is a spectator sport. Many Americans are busy lending a helping hand instead of pointing fingers from their armchairs.

It's funny because of the way they frame the data. It's like having a headline saying "Reagan Not Seen as Worst President Ever" when the data actually suggests he's considered one of the best. It's not quite THAT bad, because Bush's numbers aren't THAT high. But it's still funny the way they write this stuff.

Barack Obama has something most blacks in America do not have.

A family history.

His mother is white.

His father is from Africa. He has his family history.

Can Barack Obama really relate to the pain and anger that the generations of descendants of former slaves have? No history.

I don't think anyone will quibble over the first 2 days when the rescue effort will be pulling people out for weeks.

The next big thing is disease. They are going to have to sterilize the entire area. Bush will be judged on his rebuilding and disease control.

I hope that sooner or later the MSM discovers that New Orleans did have a written emergency plan to cover the evacuation of the poor, but that the idiot mayor of New Orleans ignored it, and allowed the evacuation buses to be ruined by the flood, forgotten.

The city leaders had at least two full days to use these hundreds of buses to evac the poor, exactly as their own emergency management plan called for.

Here's the southeast Louisiana evac plan supplement, most recently revised in 2000. Go to page 13, read paragraph 5. It states:

5. The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating.

Drudge's picture of the school buses has far more influence than the media lies.

It's a blue dress moment for Drudge.

Many abandoned buses with many abandoned people.

Fox News had a women from New Orleans in Houston yesterday.

Her sign read: WHY HAVE YOU ABANDONED US RAY NAGIN?

That's the story.

The rage at our President by the CBC does nothing but discourage people from wanting to help.

What a pity.

Georgie Steponallofus was just on ABC boasting about his 'tour' by helicopter of New Orleans. He said he toured New Orleans with 'Senator Lamestew' who took President Bush to task. It is clear that ABC is planning a major Bush trashing event using local politicos from one of most corrupt states in the nation.

My prediction: Georgie Steponallofus will make a complete donkey of himself on national television.

You can bet that ABC tried to skew and rig that poll so it made GW Bush look terrible. You can also bet that a majority of Americans, that vote approve of the way GW Bush has handled this terrible tragedy. The MSM and the vermin in the Democrat Party fail again. Now all we need is for Justice Ginsburg and Justice Kennedy to retire in the next year or two so the liberals will go down in flames as they so richly deserve, traitors that they are.

The Dems can not multi-task

They are trying though. How many times have they worked what we are spending on the Iraq war into the hurricane recovery effort? almost every chance they get.

Appears that most Americans see through the crap being thrown at the Feds and Bush in particular....what this also conveys is that if the MSM and the Dems continue this tactic it WILL Backfire big-time....Once again the left doesn't get it....

I have to admit I didn't give most Americans the benefit of the doubt...than again, it is pretty obvious where most of the blame lies....IMHO

I agree. Here's what I posted to an earlier thread:

It's clear this morning that the media is in a feeding frenzy. There is no placating such mob mentality. Chertoff was exactly right. We need to learn from this, go forward, and not get bogged down in political assassinations. There are major unheard stories from Mississippi and Alabama yet to come. The govt. can't afford to take it's eye off the ball now to refute politically motivated clap-trap. While all may be judged harshly for this past week's actions, those who drop the ball and whine now will lose the greater battle.

The MSM has been working overtime, trying to place the blame for everything that happened to NO on President Bush. Seems their propaganda machine isn't as effective as it once was.
