Bill Clinton For Chief Justice of SCOTUS
vanity | 4 September 2005 | Vanity

Posted on 09/04/2005 7:53:24 AM PDT by shrinkermd

One of the unfortunate diseases of the body politic has been the increasing politicalization of the US Supreme Court. This was not caused by conservatives; however, perhaps it should be solved by a conservative President.

One outstanding chance is now upon us. Most likely, President Bush will take the safe road and go through the political gauntlet and appoint a known conservative judge. What we really need is a break in the partisanship of the appointment process. Nominating former President Clinton would give everyone pause and begin a process where politicians (mostly, but not exclusively Democrats) can cease making efforts to please narrow interest groups in the selection process.

I know former President Clinton has personal flaws. I also know his reputation for politically catering to the pro-choicers and so forth. If any of you know a successful politiican, you know how much many of them hate being jerked around by special interest groups. I do believe Clinton began as a centrist in his party and did sign the welfare reform bill and so forth.

I could give his other qualifications, but I will leave it here.

Surely, I expected at least one person to take my suggestion seriously. Alas, not a one. Many funny one liners but no real thought.

Tell you what - take this ridiculous idea (I thought it was tongue in cheek) over to DU. They will worship you as a god.

Bill Clinton For Chief Justice of SCOTUS

How convenient those judicial robes would be for Bill, he could hide more than one intern at a time under his robe.

No thanks!

I love good satire.

It is not even good satire. Look at 77. Poster is trying Act 2 and it's getting stinkier.

A perfect SCOTUS candidate is not likely.

This statement I will agree with, but your suggestion that Bill Clinton should be nominated is just plain ridiculous.

Bill Clinton doesn't have a law license and was disbarred by the SCOTUS.

He wasn't disbarred by teh SCROTUS though.

Surely, I expected at least one person to take my suggestion seriously

Could it be because it's a stupid idea?

You want to nominate a man to the Supreme Court who has been BARRED from practicing in front of the -- tada -- USSC?

STUPID.

I know former President Clinton has personal flaws.

One of those flaws, I believe, is that his law license was revoked because he lied to a grand jury. I'm pretty sure that might be an impediment to being CJ of the SCOTUS.

Good idea lets put ol Bill and his family through the
ringer like Roberts , Bork and any other nominee gets. I
guarantee you he would decline in a second.
