Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
yeah, he did delete... as he should have... : )
She makes these comments because liberals feel that Bush is coward in the face of their threats. They have good reason to believe this.
There is a concept called projection. She must be harboring negative thoughts about the locals and is projecting it onto the President.
It's like the husband who is cheating, he gets very suspicious of his wife.
Also, I don't think the USG needs to send any paperwork in order for one state to send its National Guard, under state control, into another when asked to do so.
He may be okay, but he's not acting okay. He needs to level out his presentation instead of flipping between satisfied and not satisfied. He could be a huge help here by getting involved, and reporting accurately where assistnace needs to be applied. He ain't doing his job.
Blame shifting in full force (farce). Living in a soup bowl under sea level with a crime problem to boot was Bush's fault, too.
There was ample warning from every sane engineer that in a match-up between soup-bowl and castrophe, catastrophe would win.
AND the levee that breached had been one that was recently reinforced, I believe.
"I cant believe the lengths the MSM and their co-conspirators have gone in the blame game.."
It is astounding, isn't it? Anyone who thought the hateful leftists in the media might be chastened even a bit by Kerry's loss last November (myself included)is going to be disappointed. They're back with more venom than ever"
Definitely though I do give Kathleen Blanco credit for raising six children. She should have stuck to that and teaching. Now she's in **way** above her head.
What, you want an exit strategy in the middle of a national crisis?

CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush declared a state of emergency in Louisiana on Saturday because of the approach of Hurricane Katrina and his spokesman urged residents along the coast to heed authorities' advice to evacuate.
Bush, vacationing at his ranch, was being regularly updated about the storm, which is expected to hit land early Monday, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.
Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency continue to coordinate with state authorities in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama, and have prepositioned supplies in areas expected to be affected, he said.
The president's emergency declaration authorizes the FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief efforts and to provide appropriate assistance in a number of Louisiana parishes, or counties.
Authorities told residents of low-lying coastal communities to head for higher ground. The storm was expected to strengthen as it crosses the Gulf of Mexico and could become a Category 4 hurricane with wind of at least 131 mph.
"We urge residents in the areas that could be impacted to follow the recommendations of local authorities," McClellan said.

Thank you. You are a good sport.
Party over Country, that's the Democrat's mantra. The only criticism I've seen coming from Republicans has been directed at President Bush.
