More than a few lost their homes and wives and children are missing.....
Gosh...hard to believe they wouldn't be more loyal to Greyhound Ray......
Cops ran away - again. Like L.A. CACA riots. This time it was no "tactical retreat".
Cops have no obligation to protect and serve us. At best, they number 1 cop per 1,500 residents. Usually it is more like 1/3,500, given the 20-30 million criminal alien Mexicans/OTMs/MS-13s/ChiCom/Retro-Soviet/Pan-Islam with Qaeda sleepers swarming across our once sovereign ratified Constitutional Republic.
The Honor System in the future is unlikely, as we have seen wonton predation and likely Qaeda antics in N.O. and elsewhere during this showing of Kat on a Hot Skin Roof.
Two committed suicide? How utterly tragic.
This is the very most fundamental aspect of being a leader, but it's something apparently unknown to the mayor of New Orleans or the governor Louisiana, or the people who elected them, A shame on everyone involved in this sorry mess!
More profitable to loot fulltime.
"We have to use our own shotguns," said the patrolman, who did not want to be identified by name. "This isn't theirs; this is my personal gun."
Perhaps those are the ones caught on tape walking out of store-fronts with loot in their hands. Some of the people I saw on tape, looked like officers.
This is a tough situation. Perhaps those officers felt a family calling that they couldn't ignore. Perhaps some didn't sign on for this type of service.
Whatever, the department is probably better off without them.
This type of situatin will separate the good from the bad. No doubt about it.
WTF? They've still got people trapped in houses and they're having a promotion ceremony? No wonder New Orleans is in the shape it's in. I guess having a "promotion ceremony" in the midst of utter and total chaos is "using resources the best they can". These idiots have their priorities totally screwed up!
It seems that they didn't learn from Florida after the Cuban debris were allowed in with criminal records and hired by local police without any background information. Narcotics, bribes, murder were common-- "Scar Face" was made into a movie.

I hope we won't forget those who did stay may have lost their own homes, are working in a toxic sewer, are seeing corpses of men, women and children and some have even been shot and shot at by those they are trying to help. The police who deserted have much to answer for.
The cops in NO were just part of the social experiment...and proof that it has failed...
Everyone here is missing the point.
My understnding is that some NO officers are
on the take.
Many had their livlihoods destroyed -->
the business they were shaking down, flooded,
the drug dealers they are protecting will likely
be arrested in the sweep, etc.
What would you do?
So after only 6 days we find out who the shirkers are and who has the stuff to carry thru...though I will acknowledge that soem have lost whole families or have become bitter towards the animals that have become emboldened in NO.
From Jesse's point of view, it doesn't matter what color the cops are, they're clearly all racists. Quitting before rescuing people of color? Good grief. Let's not lay any blame on thugs shooting at the cops.
Compare to Iraqis.
What is the bail rate in a war zone?
If these people had stayed on the job, how much lawlessness could have been prevented?
It's official. There isn't one competent, responsible person in a leadership position in all of New Orleans.
I blame Bush. He drove the unemployment rate down to where these cops figured they could find another job somewhere else. If they had been trapped by Jimmy Carter's 12% unemployment rate they would have stayed on the job.
Arthel told of a relative who is a NOPD officer who was FIRED and told that there probably wouldn't be a functioning Police Department for 5 years and should hand in his badge!
I am surprised no one else on this thread has noted this interview, but perhaps all Freepers are not as obsessive as me -- watching coverage all waking hours!
