D.C.'s Rescue Bus Caravan to New Orleans Mired in Cluster Foxtrot

In the category of the road to hell is paved with good intentions, a ten bus caravan headed from Washington, D.C. to bring back 400 Katrina victims from New Orleans is mired in confusion and poor planning somewhere down South.

The rescue caravan, organized by D.C. City Council member David Catania, was reported by WUSA-TV reporter Bruce LeShan to be stopped in the middle of nowhere before reaching its destination.

LeShan, who is stuck on the caravan and called in his report, said there is no gas to be had, no hotels with vacancies and that the drivers pulled over because after being on the road for 24 hours the drivers just couldn't drive anymore.

He also said the buses are old and rickety and can't go very fast.

The caravan was organized independently by Catania without coordination with the federal government.

The WUSA anchor in the Washington studio was stunned at LeShan's report of the cluster foxtrot.

God help the people of New Orleans if those buses do get there. They'll be delivered unto New Orleans on the Potomac.

Ye gods...Even the transit buses often cannot make it up the highway ramps in VA. One can be certain DC school buses will be less capable.

More of the blind leading the blind.

"And, I'll bet they don't have bathrooms, either."

There's vacancy at the SuperDome.

LOL. The ability of Freepers to come up with these perfectly hilarious photos on any given topic at the drop of hat will never cease to amaze me.

Who will save the DC Rescue Caravan? Can we mount an international effort into this possibly (the French, the Belgium Congo, perhaps Germany)? There needs to be a coordination center set up asap...with at least 300 military personnel, and an entire FEMA team. I would suggest a John Wayne-type dude to run the operation. We may need President Bush to tour the scene and reflect upon his sorrows while there and hopefully have a DC politican or two to express outrage at the length of time it took us to actually find the Carvan (no one told us they were at Buddy's Bar-b-q drinking the hard stuff and crying over their lost situation).

Save the Caravan!

Oh, God help us. Catania is a grandstanding homo, who used to be a Republican but then ostentatiously switched parties to protest GOP opposition to same-sex marriage. This sounds exactly like something that nincompoop would do to try to embarrass Republicans. I would be LMAO except that he has stupidly put people's lives in danger.

Old military axiom...."Amatuers talk tactics. Professionals talk logistics."

These people just learned a lesson in logistics.

Needs to be repeated from the highest towers.
