Mike Bayham is a former St. Bernard Parish Councilman and a political consultant in south Louisiana.

Well, he hit the nail on the Nagin and threw in a Blanco to boot.

Farther in the article:

Shoot to kill orders must be promulgated and carried out. Fear alone is the only means to communicate to these human vultures that looters will pay a dire price for their activities. Once word gets out that looters have been fired on, through the same media outlets that unwittingly broadcast the ok to let the pillaging begin, the situation will become more tenable and more lives will be saved from the waters and the gun-toting vermin running the streets.

He uses great words, like "pillage" and "banditti".

I've heard these stories for three days now. Do we have any evidence that these murders and rapes and beatings actually took place? Have the authorities collected the bodies of those murdered? Have raped women come forward to attest to the attacks described?

I am not saying that incidents have not occurred, but in a situation like this stories are told and retold and take a life of their own. Here in NYC the stories passed among the cops of terrorists stealing Verizon trucks and ambulances to attack the workers at ground Zero were rampant. No such events occurred. I think it should be a priority for the authorities to determine what has really happened in NOLA and what has become urban legemd.

When they pump that place out and win back the streets via house to house fighting... the next Mardi Gras will likely be somewhat shy as far as attendance numbers.

Most of NO will end up like the vast evacuated warren's of Detroit, but with cholera, armed gangs and alligators.

Maybe the Mardi Gras can be replaced by some sort of mad max adventure get away trip, or a "reality" survival series... I'd love to see them drop George Clooney off in the french quarter and let him try to survive for a day with a pocket knife and his philosophy.

Instead of rebuilding it we should think about keeping it the way it is and turning it into a penal colony for the worst of the worst, starting with the scum looters and pillagers already there. (not the innocents of coarse, just the predators)
