Here in Oklahoma our Lt Governor as acting Governor (our RAT Governor is always MIA) had to sign an emergency order to put our Guard under FEMA since dingbag LA Governor never signed the request asking for Oklahoma assistance. FEMA asked and Lt Gov Fallin found a way for them to use our troops and for our troops to be supplied.

As one who used my money to get up close and personal to those near the throne, the more I became disillusioned. Few are called to the public square with the right spirit these days, the intelligence, the knowledge, the intensity, the passion, the focus, the judgment, the selflessness, the brutal honesty, the normalcy, the honesty, the person you would want as a neighbor and as a friend, as one you would admire and respect. It is all too similar to the quality of the waters in NO right now. Sad, but true, in my limited anecdotal experience.

Dr. Frist is on the ground in the devastated areas helping out as a doctor now. Received an email to that effect late last night.

The Governor cried, then the Mayor's head exploded, then the police chief cried on cue for cameras, now the police are verbally attacking the National Guard.
We have to hope the American people are paying attention to how elected Democrats, their spokesmen, their officials at all levels, and their constituents, react to crisis.

Not just here, it was on national television for all the world to see. Two female police officers casually pushing a shopping cart through a Walmart, filling it while all around them looters ran amok.

NYPD would have capped a couple right off and that would have quashed it.

Sounds like his primary complaints are:
Failure of NOPD under the Mayor
Failure of the LANG under the Governor
and admits that the fed troops have pulled their chips out of the fire.

Could you imagine what the response would have been had
the President sent in the Guard to begin with
Not only that the Black Caucus and Ms Nancy P would of had a bill of Impeachment on the US House Floor on Wednesday because the "Racists sexists cowboy Bush had illegal overrode the legal authority of a Black Democrat Mayor and a Female Democrat Governor". Bush cannot order the Guard ANYWHERE until they are Federalized and then they cannot be used in domestic Law Enforcement because of Posse Comittatus. To do so President Bush would of had to BREAK the law. The State Governor commands the State National Guard, NOT the President unless it has been called to Federal Service.

Damn it all, I am more and more thinking of putting my wallet back in my pocket...
That was my first impulse as well. But the more that I think about it, I see the PEOPLE of New Orleans need our help even more badly than we originally thought.
First because of the natural catastrophe and--perhaps even more so--because of incompetent officials such as we've seen thus far in this mess.

What are the Rats criticizing President Bush doing to help?

Weren't the national guard troops in the city during the time period he talks about composed 100% of Louisiana National Guard members? Under the authority of Gov. Blanco?

I should add, that most of Riley's force quit and abandoned their posts. They got the hell out of Dodge. The few left ended up defending their police stations from the armed mob. He ended up with nothing to command, and nothing to control.

Nagin was in Baton Rouge, wasn't he? Guess a lot of the cops figured if the mayor's going to desert the sinking ship, why should they stick around. No he wasn't, that was an urban myth. He and his skeleton emergency staff rode out the storm in the city.

Where has Riley been for the past week? Where has his boss, the chief, been? Haven't heard from them or seen them until now.

I saw pictures of his police force looting... I wonder if he had anything to say about that? It would have been interesting if the Gov had given the order to the NG to shoot looters, and the NG had to get into a firefight with looting NOLA cops

I'm pretty sure the docs and nurses didn't go home and feel sorry for themselves....pretty sure they stayed on and on......
pathetic.....besides, from the looks of some of those NO cops, they would have been worthless anyway....carrying way, way too much blubber to do much go for anyway.......
