Superdome Evacuation Halted (rich people first..please.
Fox News ^

At one point Friday, the evacuation was interrupted briefly when school buses rolled up so some 700 guests and employees from the Hyatt Hotel could move to the head of the evacuation line much to the amazement of those who had been crammed in the stinking Superdome since last Sunday.
"How does this work? They (are) clean, they are dry, they get out ahead of us?" exclaimed Howard Blue, 22, who tried to get in their line. The National Guard blocked him as other guardsmen helped the well-dressed guests with their luggage.
The 700 had been trapped in the hotel, next to the Superdome, but conditions were considerably cleaner, even without running water, than the unsanitary crush inside the dome. The Hyatt was severely damaged by the storm. Every pane of glass on the riverside wall was blown out.

Can anyone justify why the luxurious guests of the Hyatt were placed in line ahead of those that had been suffering in far worse conditions?
I don't think you can.

I don't think you can.So they don't get robbed, raped, and beaten like the other whites in the Superdome did. Read the earlier posts.

Well, I dunno, how about reading the VERY NEXT PARAGRAPH:
Mayor Ray Nagin has used the hotel as a base since it sits across the street from city hall, and there were reports the hotel was cleared with priority to make room for police, firefighters and other officials.

The tourists? I read earlier that they were being abused and in danger because of their skin color. There was also a concern about it was increasing tension in the dome. Supposedly at one time they were moved there.

Hey Doc? Kind of CURIOUS why you did quote the NEXT line of this story???
Mayor Ray Nagin has used the hotel as a base since it sits across the street from city hall, and there were reports the hotel was cleared with priority to make room for police, firefighters and other officials.

Can anyone justify why the luxurious guests of the Hyatt were placed in line ahead of those that had been suffering in far worse conditions? they were Halliburton employees? /sarcasm I suspect there is more to this story...perhaps the bus was sent BY the Hyatt explicitly for their guests. I find that if you dig beyond the superficial story the liberal conspiracies tend to go away.

Why don't you address your questions about this to the Mayor of New Orleans. He was the one who was responsible for the tourists getting preferential treatment.

I'd heard it was on the mayor's orders. Somewhere there's an article about it.

I would assume the 700 are short termers. Once they get out, they go home. The superdomers, they're stuck.

You don't know and neither do I. But it's possible that the people in the Hyatt had actually been there much longer than anyone in the Superdome was. They may have been cleaner and more comfortable than the folks at the Superdome, but they may have been without food and water longer. The hotels were not provisioned to feed hundreds for a week. Most of the rooms were unusable due to broken glass. Hyatt Corp. may have paid for those buses to come get the people when they realized nobody was coming for them and it was unsafe for them to stay.
Better to ask the idiots in charge of the city and its alleged disater plan why there were people still waiting for buses at the Superdome for so long.

It is because of incidents like this, we are facing the possibility of increased unrest through out the country.
The people in the dome are mad, and justifiably so. This whole evacuation has been a charlie fox from the beginning. I just pray that the authorities can learn from this, and that it doesn't injure and destroy the fragile fabric of our nation to much more that it already has.
