"The damned bastards." Echo that.
In truth and actuality a great many people could have been bused out way ahead of a category 5 storm which the weather forecasters said over and over again would make a direct hit on New Orleans, Louisiana....
He also wanted Greyhounds.
I went to this site
http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/katrina/KATRINA0000.HTM
in an attempt to look at the other RTA facilities
There is one lot at 3900 Desire Parkway (which, using the google hybrid map option, looks like it may be next to the schoolbus lot in the pic you put up) and another lot at 8201 Willow Street. The admin building is at 6700 Plaza Drive, but I haven't tried to look at that yet.
Do you know if these have been put up somewhere here already? I would like to see them.
got that google map link ?

the one for the Desire Parkway lot does show some vehicles, Willow Street looks to be an enclosed building of some kind, and I haven't tried the admin building
Desire Parkway is missing most of it's buses, I compared before and after pictures.
Willow street is the Streetcar barn and factory for all the new streetcars New Orleans has been building as well as it's existing stock.
This leads to a question, what happened to all of Desire Parkway's buses?
They are either in the barn which I doubt or elsewhere in the city or out of the city.
NTD has NORTA listed with 43 light rail vehicles, I'm figuring these are the streetcars.
This leads to a question, what happened to all of Desire Parkway's buses?
NORTA has 364 buses and 68 paratransit/demand response vehicles. I think I saw somewhere the number of 150 or 154 buses in the Canal St. lot pic, I got up to around 80 and then my eyes started to cross (but that was only the buses in the two rows closest to the parking lot).
If you take out the ones that are in the Canal St. lot, the remainder in the Desire Parkway lot, and figure in an additional 20 or so in the shop, that is still around 170 to 180 fixed route buses.
They are either in the barn which I doubt or elsewhere in the city or out of the city.
I checked the Convention Center and the Superdome (link below, you will probably need to copy and paste it), but I can't see them. I don't think they could be stored in a parking deck, unless it was constructed to hold vehicles of that weight (and height) for an extended period of time. If we figure they are 35'-40' buses, they would take up a bit of space. I don't know where else to look for them right now, unless I just wander around the google Katrina map, looking for them.

Cars don't have bathrooms either. It's called taking a break while fueling the vehicle, if the trip is long enough. What is Nagin's IQ?!
I found at least two sites which I believe are RTA Buses within walking distance of the Super Dome, one with a lot of buses next to the projects at St.Louis St. and N. Claiborne Ave. and the other at the Canal st bus barn.
