Those white roofed buses are just that white roofed school buses. It makes them cooler in the summer.
I know there is a RTA bus barn and lot with maybe 200+ buses on Magazine street near Audobon park.
According to most pictures of the flooded area and it location near the river levee it should have been High and dry.

Because they belong to her.
update bump.
I've done so checking around and The RTA buses in the picture must be at a Bus barn and lot on Canal street near the Super Dome.
The Arabella or Magazine street Bus barns were closed and converted to a Whole Food market.
That means those city buses are so close and yet so far from those that need them.
I guess I'm going to have to dig that one up. That's some quote.
Good Sharpton calculation.
Most of the comments, reports, links, and other information is on the Live Kat thread. Might be a tad difficult to find since there are quite a few now.

I haven't seen a picture of the RTA buses only school buses.

The RTA has a facility at 2817 Canal St. Using google and the hybrid map option they have, it looks like the same lot.
thanks for the information, doug
It is the same picture, and easily with in walking distance from the superdome.
Evn as if used as temporary shelter, and air conditioned at that, these are buses would be better then sitting in the Convention center or on an overpass.
This is another government failure at the local level...when a coastal city is below sealevel there is no room for error when it comes to evacuations prior to storms stronger than the defenses are rated for...if this means that there are evacuations that in hindsight prove unnecessary; this is the price for living in a zero tolerance environment. This fact should have been drilled into the heads of every resident of the city by the municipal and state governments through the schools, via radio and tv as well as signs on the municipal buses now floating unused in the city lots.
