"Women can fight too."

Yup. Daddies don't let your daughters grow up not knowing how to use a firearm.

Mayor Ray Nagin and his subordinates took off for Baton Rouge almost immediately after Katrina hit.

Guess that a lot of the NOPD took their cue from the mayor.

Look at Gov Blanco and tell me if she reminds you of another despicable, do-nothing 'rat you know.

Yep. Hey, it's the Big Easy. Dealing with this sort of sh*t wasn't in their job description, as far as they're concerned.

There is little enough info about Mississippi and Alabama. Rural Louisana is not quite sensational enough to merit media attention.

Excellent point.

Something that stands out in the reports (others have mentioned it, as well) is the absence of fathers. Twelve people in a house, no adult man. Two sisters and a total of six offspring evacuate to Dallas, no fathers of anybody around.

When government is your Daddy, and government fails, you're toast.

"Where were all the decent men in there???

There were more than enough men to take out whatever roving gangs there were. Pathetic.
"

Never saw the movie "High Noon"? It's a story as old as man himself.

Most otherwise good men will run and hide in times like these. As has been pointed out, by others far more eloquent than I, the veneer separating civil society from chaos is very, very thin and there are few who will stand up alone and fight it.

I just saw Fox replay what this malcontent said about GB on a charity request. Only SD mentioned they should have pulled the plug. I've been really wanting to do something to help and even called my mayor Friday. My feelings right now are to hell with it.

What is written elsewhere in this article, is that the Mrs. Valenti in this article, is EIGHTY YEARS OLD, attending to her equally helpless, eldery husband at the time they received the multiple death threats by the gangs, clearly hate crimes, that they would be murdered.

Bet you're right.

They should try telling that to the NYPD and the NYFD.

My daughter is about to enter junior year in high school and had to read selections from Howard Zinn's book, A People's History. In it, he blames white men and Western Civilization for every wrong that ever occurred, and reports major historical events with "authentic" information. Matt Damon quoted him in Good Will Hunting. And he and Ben Affleck are making a movie, supposedly, about the "real" history.

What this history and any education system teaching it represents is Marxist indoctrination in Marxist theory: There are the oppressor and there are the oppressed. It is that simple and, for the last thirty or so years, this is the lesson that has been taught, reinforced, and imposed at every level on our populace: in the movies, in the classroom, in the news. It is anti-religion because religion is from the paternalistic white male oppressor. And the goal is to undermine the culture of the oppressor by demoralizing and creating disequilibrium.

By attacking religion and keeping people away from the "opiate of the masses" a great civilizing force is neutralized. Churches go vacant, which can be wonderful places to organize at such a time like this, and entire religious traditions themselves go bankrupt and disperse.

We need to start a public awareness campaign that what we are seeing is Marxism and resulting anarchy. We also need to turn to our churches and work patiently within them in Christian Charity. Churches reaching out to other churches is vital. We must do everything we can to refrain from racial baiting here, no matter how tempting, no matter how self evident it may be, here, that this is a racial issue. It is not. It is Marxism and an underclass nursed on it which happens to be black and a larger white culture also indoctrinated to accept the underlying Marxist pseudo "truths." Christianity, or Judeo-Christianity, with its ancient principles CAN fight back by principled behavior and with charity. I don't think we have any other option. Oh, and also keep yourselves armed. Even Christ sent His people out with a dagger, I believe.V's wife.

MSNBC/CNN 24/7 Bush bashing..10 times worse then normal..even the so called "neutral" news anchors are bashing him...calling him "pathetic"

They are incapable of uttering a word of criticism against Nagin or Blanco. It seems that all politics is local until the breakdown is local and the politician is black or female.

Very few public officials are going to criticize Nagin (a black mayor) or Blanco (a female governor).

When you have a mayor who was voted in by the welfare and criminal class, expect nothing but trouble.

Years back in NYC, we had the Crown Heights Riots, which had turned into a black pogrom of the Orthodox Jewish neighborhood of Crown Heights. Mayor David Dinkens ordered the police to "show restraint". They stood like statues and did NOTHING to stop the violence

And let's not forget the LA riots under Tom Bradley

From hundreds of thousands of people stranded in New Orleans....it could have been "the Alamo" of Louisiana....had there been any real men, decent, men.

But it was devoid of any such thing.

"I don't think that the lessons can be driven home any harder: Never give up your guns. Never rely on the government for protection. When good people give up the option of force, power defaults to the evil ones. I hope America pays attention to this microcosm of a population disarmed by the government."

Truer words have not been spoken.

In the short run, say to 5 days out, you are completely on your own in a disaster. The people you can rely on are your family, and if you're lucky, your friends and neighbors.

It's hard for me to understand such sub-human behavior in the face of a natural disaster

But they don't see it as a disaster. They see it as an opportunity.

One thing on the rapes. There will almost certainly be DNA evidence. These guys will in all probability be arrested for one thing or another in the future, and I hope at least some of them will do life or get executed for this on the basis of that evidence.
