Today President Bush toured the Gulf Coast states of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana and and did his best to comfort the victims of the most destructive natural disaster in the history of the United States
Cussing jar.
I thought that jar was full after the Mark L. thread :)
yes shame on them for making kelly and lauren cry.
god bless the bushes !!!
when Reagan left office I was in college. I remember crying for a couple of hours after his farewell speech. He was just such a calming influence. I will do the same thing when Bush gives his farewell address.
what would clinton have done? Let's see.... he would have had his advance team place a dead body in his path so he would "discover" it and bite his lower lip.
Yoo-Hoo, prairie, do you remember who got banned this morning on the Bush thread(before leaving the WH)?
I LOVE THIS MAN!!!
Under constant criticism from people who aren't fit to tie his shoes, the President still finds the energy and heart to masterfully handle one crisis after another . . . what an incredible leader; what a godly man!!
You nailed it! The governor seems to be in a state of shock, and the mayor is a cheap opportunist who should be impeached for his behavior and failure to perform his duty. He was too busy whining and trying to blame someone else for his failure to perform his duties as mayor of New Orleans. Letting the tourists and elites out of NO ahead of the citizens who had been waiting in dire circumstances is inexcusable, and he should be suspended w/o pay immediately.
Read the article linked in post #168
Clear-headed, excellent summary of the salient points. Thank you.
LOL. On Gretchen's show tonight a reporterette said that Nagin was singing Bush's praises after meeting with him. Now that is one conversation I would have loved to listen in on. Nagin was so hateful of him this morning and then later he is talking about Bush in a positive light. :)
On Saturday night the Mayor of New Orleans was still dithering with lawyers about their liability if he should order the evacuation of New Orleans be mandatory. He and the lawyers decided to have people sign forms refusing mandatory evacuation, and then Sunday morning he finally ordered mandatory evacuation
And that is how liberals would run the war. And how they would lose it. "Dithering with lawyers".
I sent the following to about 300 media outlets today. Although I provided the link, I sent them the whole article, but will not post all of it here, due to length.
Before you read the article, some questions for media are:
1. Why don't you assume some responsibility for reporting after the hurricane, that New Orleans had escaped a big one, only to find out much later that they had not? Although it's not your fault because you didn't know any better, you're now blaming the president for not doing more immediately, even though you were telling us that things "weren't that bad".
2. Why don't you accept responsibility for: in your eagerness to embarrass or blame President Bush, you were reporting shootings, etc., as if they were massive--which in turn made people afraid to help? If it wasn't too unsafe for you to be there, why were you trying to scare others, more than was necessary?
3. Where is any blame placed on the Governor of Louisiana and the Mayor of New Orleans for not doing more and being more prepared?
4. Why is all the blame placed on the president when he didn't know (due to your reporting) until late Monday or early Tuesday, how bad the situation was and the Governor was on TV saying everything was under control (more or less)?
5. Where is the blame (for those who are now complaining) for not assuming some responsibility for themselves and for REFUSING to leave the city when they were asked to? (this isn't meant for those who COULDN'T leave, for various reasons)
6. Why isn't it being reported that organization is hard to accomplish when there is no way to communicate or no way to get to the area? ie no cell service, no electricity, streets flooded, etc.
7. What are those who are complaining the most, doing about the situation?
8. Why aren't the men out trying to help the city, rather than raping women and shooting at people and rescuers?
9. Last, but not least, why don't you report that the president's presence in the area would have slowed down recovery, had he gone in the very beginning, due to security, etc., that has to surround him (i.e. no other aircraft could have been in the air, searching for and rescuing people) and why was he not given any credit for flying over the area on Wednesday, even as thugs were shooting at aircraft?
World stunned as US struggles with Katrina

LONDON (Reuters) - The world has watched amazed as the planet's only superpower struggles with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with some saying the chaos has exposed flaws and deep divisions in American society.
World leaders and ordinary citizens have expressed sympathy with the people of the southern United States whose lives were devastated by the hurricane and the flooding that followed.
But many have also been shocked by the images of disorder beamed around the world -- looters roaming the debris-strewn streets and thousands of people gathered in New Orleans waiting for the authorities to provide food, water and other aid.

That is a stunning photo that the MSM will probably not show many Americans.
Oh my gosh, that is so ghoulishly accurate!
Hi, Snugs. And I read on another thread that this guy--I think he's just a kid, 18--could be facing charges for "stealing" the bus. They gotta be kidding!
Actually, When NO was built, it was above Sea Level, It was built on a Silt Basin and the entire city hase been sinking since day one :-)
yes...SHAME on them!! But, just think....hehe **wink wink** I think you know what I'm gonna say...lol
