They spent a bunch of time showing him locally the past couple of days. He may have done his on location photo-op and returned to more fancy digs.
Watching the plane with refuges landing in Lubbock. They are treating them as if it is all the looters on the plane, which may not be a bad idea. Drug-sniffing dogs and a massive (and I mean massive) presence of local, state and federal LEO. Local channel says have 30 Lubbock police vehicles alone and they came with more than one officer. The only thing I can think of is there were a disturbance on one of the planes and they are guarding against more problems.
Well, there's that, but there's also the not-so-subtle message of "Welcome to Texas, we don't put up with any foolishness like the LA authorities do. If you are a law abiding citizen, we'll get along just fine. If you aren't, well, look around you. Find somewhere else to misbehave because doing *anything* like that here will get you a *really* nasty surprise."
A *heavy* police presence has been present (no pun intended) at every refugee disembarkation point in Texas. You should see the one at Big Town Mall in Mesquite. The only thing that's missing is the local police APC contingent and choppers flying overhead.
" They are treating them as if it is all the looters on the plane, which may not be a bad idea. "
I saw a clip on FOX this morning (sound off) which showed a small group of evacuees waiting to board a helicopter. The camera panned to the left to show a LEO walking away from the group, his arms loaded with handguns and rifles.
Probably a good idea to screen everybody on both ends of the journey.
