Maestri and Jefferson Parish Sheriff Lee are going to come out as the heroes in this, but I'm very much afraid they will be broken men by the time the immediate emergency situation is over.

I think I need more facts before coming to that conclusion. Where did the bus start and who were those people on it? He got there real quick.

I think that when they do the forensic engineering analysis, they're going to find that the SD was hit with far faster winds than anyone thought it would be because of the taller buildings creating odd wind flows.

The architect and builders did a better job than anyone had a right to expect, I think.

Okay, I am heading for bed...I am reposting the two cutest pics of the day....

Over 150 dogs and other animals were evacuated from an animal hospital after their owners had left town without them. (Carolyn Cole / LAT) September 1, 2005

Has anyone heard if the CANNABILISM reported today by Randall Robertson, liberal black activist and president of Transafrica, is true?

If people are eating corpses after only four days of no food, it would be for other reasons than starvation. That said Randall Robertson is full of it.

He picked up people on his way. Made 3 other stops: food, water. Went to Houston and the bus is there in the parking lot.

Greta interviewed him and he's a good kid that decided to take matters into his own hands. Thank God.

At the Superdome, the Haynes family eats military rations and even uses the box as a bed for four-month-old Alison. Lexus, age 4, left, and Ariel, 5, right, have been staying at the Superdome and will probably be there a few more days. (Carolyn Cole / LAT) September 1, 2005

So Moon Landrieu oversaw construction of the dome. Very interesting. I looked up Mitch and saw this information; explains why the gangs feel free to do what they want:

As a state representative, Landrieu was responsible for a number of meaningful reforms in a variety of areas: Landrieu led the legislative effort to reform Louisiana's juvenile justice system with a focus on rehabilitation and reform, not punishment and revenge. He continues to chair the Juvenile Justice Commission, the entity created by the legislation to implement the reforms. In January, 2004, Governor Kathleen Blanco endorsed the Commission's recommendations.
