City of Angels to gets its NFL Saints? Or Crown City of Pasadena to Coronate its Saints?

City of Angels and City of Roses Ideal Spots for Displaced NFL New Orleans Saints.

Friday Sept. 2, 2005

The NFL Pasadena Saints?

"L.A. has the Coliseum (home of USC's Trojans) and Pasadena's Rose Bowl (UCLA), and between those two venues, the Saints certainly wouldn't lack for seating capacity. Weather is nearly ideal, beginning now and extending into the foreseeable infinity." - Mark Kreidler, ESPN Sports Get the hyperlink to the story at http://www.pasadenapundit.com

Please. No. Los Angeles does just fine without a football team. If we get saddled with a stinker of a team, all the good games will be blacked out every Sunday.

I am sure the Falcons, Panthers and Bucs wouldn't be too pleased with the road games being an extra thousand plus miles away. They'll be the first to complain (unless, of course, the owners get promised an extra cut of the relocation fees; then the players will be told to accept it for the good of the league).

No, no, no! Wait! Wait! I got it!!

Kill two birds with one stone!!

Put the Saints in the Coliseum and put the fans from New Orleans in the Rose Bowl!

They'll have a place to live and every week they can get bussed over to cheer on thier team!

I know, I know, great idea. Thanks, but no applause.

The city of Anaheim is offering to build a football only stadium next to the Pond and Anaheim Stadium if the NFL will give them a team.

The Saints can follow the Angels' lead...

The New Orleans Saints of Anaheim.

Those teams fly, the players wouldn't care at all.

If its LA, the players might even be happier.

I don't think you guys would get blacked out, they would still be the New Orleans Saints, they would just be playing in LA temporarily.

Which begs the next question, what makes the NFL think that fans are going to want to watch someone elses local team (and a bad team at that) play?

Tom Benson, who owns a major car dealership in San Antonio owns the Saints...my bet is on San Antonio.

The NFL wants a franchise in LA by 2008. Odds-on favorites have been the Saints or the Vikings.

What you said. Besides, I don't want any NFL team to screw up my USC season ticket location in the Coliseum.

From what I heard this morning, the Saints want to play in Louisiana if at all possible. LSU's field would be a likely candidate.

Even though they fly, they do complain about the jet lag on the few left-coast games they do play. In reality, it would only be one game for each of those teams. However, it would be eight AWAY games for the LA Saints. They would get the brunt of it (again).

If you really think about it, its more like 16 away games for the saints.

They are not going to have any kind of hometown support.

Players do complain about the jet lag, but its never ever been seriously taken as an issue.

It also doesn't hurt that the players are all farmiliar with the areas and everything else, plus, alot of those players are either from cali or went to school out there or what not.

The saints are pretty shot for the season.

I'm trying to remember what the precedents and contingancy plans in the past were, I know that during the LA Riots, the dodgers (or was it the A's and or Angels?) played in Las Vegas.

There was some talk about just switching the saints schedule to all 16 games on the road, if feasable.

I think it's pretty sickening to see the fine folks in the Pasadena newspaper entertain the concern of where the Aints are going to play, rather than the human tragedy unfolding in N'Ohleans.
