Maybe Mayor Nagin would like to explain this picture before he and the rest of his democratic fellow travelers continue to blast the fed's.

There was one, but it was out of date, and worse, was a 72-hour evacuation plan. By the time the mayor and governor got around to ordering it, there were only about 40 hours left before the hurricane hit. I suspect the plan, such as it was, was also sketchy and didn't cover much.
I'm sure the mayor and governor had lots more on their minds than a mere public safety concern like evacuating people ahead of a killer hurricane--like, for instane, how could they get their hands on more of that GRAFT?
We boarded up and headed out for Ivan and Dennis... made the call on Katrina Saturday morning.
The mayor is... well... [best, slow, southern drawl] He's just glad we ain't a bunch of commies!
"The Mayor cursed and ridiculed his critics as "small thinkers", who said he should have loaded up school buses and gotten people out of the city before the hurricane."
The Mayor knows that he is in big trouble and had better start blaming the other guy, any other guy.
How many times during a typical hurricane season does a potentially dangerous storm come into the gulf? And, how accurate are typical landfall forecasts 72 hours before the fact? How many times a year would New Orleans be evacuated if this 72 hour plan were strictly enforced? Does anyone know?

Re#139 It is. Once again, we are seeing from the 'rats 'projection'. They know they failed on the state/local level, hence, W's fault. And the MSM will do their d*mnest to give them cover...
Pretty base conclusion I've come to when I realize their failure to act, and then cast off blame, USING what I'd assume they consider 'collateral damage' (gangs, looters, theives, murderers and rapists; the trapped, dying, dead, and the infirm) over the air for political purposes. Nut doesn't fall far from the tree when I consider Cindy Sheehan.
These people make me want to vomit.
My point was, use the city buses to get the folks out of town.

Could've just flown in one batch of drivers then had another batch drive in and then have them all drive out. You would have had twice the number of buses on the move plus saved all those from the flood to use later.
