Maybe Mayor Nagin would like to explain this picture before he and the rest of his democratic fellow travelers continue to blast the fed's.

I assume you have seen that there is independant corroboration . . .

Yes, I must say I just recently have. It may have helped if I had opened my eyes wider.

Thanks

No, let the bus drivers bring their families.

I do think that congressional hearings will be required and accountabilities examined and policies restructured to insure a more appropriate response in the future. I think at the minimum, mandatory evacuations should be mandatory. Get the NG in there early and force them on the buses. LOL--imagine the griping from the people who didn't want to leave. OY.

No effin' sh!t. Anybody who thinks all these people who CHOSE to stay would have willingly permitted government to force them out of their homes is a freaking idiot.

I am really disappointed in the intelligence of FReepers these days. I'm checking out for the weekend. Maybe some sanity will be restored after Labor Day.

It makes me want to riot and pillage in my own hood, too.

I just said the same damn thing a few posts up.

The scale of the disaster is staggering, of course, but the ineptitude of the Mayor and Governor is also staggering. The idea that they weren't fully prepared to handle even ONE main shelter (Superdome) is just pitiful.... I can understand that no city can prepare for every possible eventuality, but they KNEW they were putting tens of thousands of people into the dome, and they certainly should have prepared the resources to handle basic needs at the Superdome (and the Convention Center). Better yet, they should have had a transportation plan to get 100K poor people out of NOLA to shelters in more secure areas.... bunch of BOZOs!

"Ah, clever observation. It could have been taken in a school district where they park the buses in a lake."

LOL. But you also raise another interesting point. These buses may now be unusuable, but every town or county in Louisianna has its own fleet of school buses. There really should be no shortage of dry buses in the vicinity of NO at the disposal of the Governor of LA.

Surely you aren't suggesting that the entire population that is still there had means to leave and did not? That everyone there stayed behind to loot?

I already said that the city government is partly blame by not evacuating before the storm."

As I said in my post, there were many who stayed behind to loot. They were not going to evacuate, no matter what. There were others who didn't believe it would be bad ... that they could "ride it out" in their homes. As for those who wanted to get out, but couldn't because of age, health, or lack of ability for some other reason, those submerged buses all prove that the public transportation existed to get them out ... the blame, there, goes squarely on the Mayor's shoulders.

As for cuts in levee budgets ... blame goes to Carter and Clinton too, you know. Besides, the area of the levee that gave was was actually an area that had NOT been in danger of going prior to this event. I heard an Corps of Engineer's officer say that on CNN yesterday. So, budget cuts didn't effect cause this anyway.

"This is a sad day when we are all to blame for a hurricane and the dems and libs come out in force to say this is all about black vs white."

Sounds like every other day of my life for the last 40 years. Seriously, these people are only doing damage to themselves when they make these inane remarks. Many white people are risking their safety to help the people of New Orleans. Everyone in America can see that the lawless people in New Orleans are making this situation enormously more difficult. Americans can see that the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana are incompetent. If anything good is done now, it won't be because of the Black Caucus.

And if the buses had been used to evacuate people beforehand, THEY WOULDNT BE FLOODED OUT RIGHT NOW.

Savannah Georgia has a plan to use school buses in evacuations, why not NO?

It's a RATS genetic makeup to feed off garbage. I don't recall any of them ever taking personal responsibility.

For the record--it's been reported that they shut down the city bus system around noon on the day the evacuation was ordered.

Sounds logical to me - you don't need to be commuting around town when you are suppossed to be evacuating!

Why don't you tell the thugs to stop shooting and that might happen.

You can yell all you want but put the blame where it belongs on stopping search and rescue -- lawless thugs from NO who have taken the opportunity to loot the city.

Criminals will behave as criminals no matter what. You can blame thugs all you want, but it will not change their behavior. They are no better than animals.

The blame belongs on the powers that be, specifically the local and state government of LA., for not shooting these thugs in the beginning.

I fully understand that rescue operations were suspended because of lawlessness. But whose responsibility is it to maintain law and order?

That failure belongs squarely on the shoulders of Nagin, Blanco, and every other person in that state who failed to issue shoot to kill orders on Monday.

The LA Governor and NO Mayor are ABJECTLY INCOMPETENT.. there is no doubt at all their inability to do their jobs has cost hundreds if not thousands more their lives, and only God knows how many untold people have been raped or otherwise assaulted thanks to their infathonable incompetence.
