Texas is awesome. And Texans have big hearts. Some may never want to go back. But they need to remember, "Don't Mess With Texas".

The state government has been looking like idiots, squabbling over school finanace. Now, compared with Louisiana, they look like Solons.

If I were W I'd put up a couple families at my Crawford ranch. Of course, if I were W in June, 2001 I'd have publicly invited Algore to head up a 50 Governor panel charged with standardizing and assuring the accuracy of federal elections.(I am not W).

Virtually every city has convention centers Ok, but virtually every city that has convention centers usually has what ? CONVENTIONS IN CONVENTION CENTERS. The Alamo dome and the Astrodome are rarely used mostly empty facilities. Think before you criticize.

8,000 would be right for "FIELD" capacity (8,000 cots - sounds right)- They are not putting them in the bleacher seats or in other areas, just on the field - use some common sense and do some math. I don't care who the source was but I am glad you found it humorous.

Thats not a nice comment.
Have some respect
How many secularists groups have stepped forward to lend a hand.
I believe the Baptist Church of Houston furnished the food, cooked the meal and served it to the refugees tonight at the Astrodome.

Don't jump to conclusions just because you haven't heard all the facts. Austin is taking in refugees, too.

Well...the former SAC Air base 12 miles from here (KI Sawyer) has room enough for about 2 to 3 thousand in dorms that have set empty since the early 90s. There they sit..furniture in them and totally empty. Include that there are at LEAST 150 or MORE single, and multiple family homes sitting empty. Maybe some need some minor repairs to except these people, but what the heck, they havent got anything to do anyway so why dont they send some here. At least thats what I asked today and all I got was a "I DONT KNOW".
I guess nobody knows anything anymore and its far easier to pass the buck, which is the same a lying.
BTW it has what was a first class hospitol sitting empty also. That as well as several hangers which were used for B52 bombers.
This whole thing is so sad that its laughable.

>"what's up with the rest of Louisiana...are they as incompetent as the "leaders" in New Orleans..???"Yes most of them are. Here in central La. we have numerous churches and smaller shelters housing refugees. Not to mention relatives taking in multiple families. Traffic has increased tremendously, and our streets are not known for being tourist friendly. Kinda like trying to find you way outta a casino. Traffic circles two way feeders with stop signs on only two sides. A lot of crash and smash intersections for the unwary. This has put a great deal of strain on limited LEO's and Medical facilities.
Just dumping these folks into one spot will make a little NO outta where ever they are. Aside from the historical districts in NO, most of the city was little more than a homicidal cesspool, that the state govt threw money into like a sinkhole. Maybe now we can finally get rid of the Aints, and their strong arm extortion for mega bucks!

The Catholic's are running shelters in Houston as are the Methodists. The Baptists have sent multiple hot food trailers, men and food to NOLA.
BTW that picture is from one of their worship services.

I will do my best to learn your humor/sarcasm continuum, so as to avoid the kitty's. Sounds like a plan, indeed.

They OUGHT to plan on staying. . They are like the inhabitants of Jerusalem who fled before the city was besieged by the Romans. One thing is sure: the city that that return to will be quite different from the one they knew. They will be as much strangers there are they are in Houston.
