Send them to Detroit.

That's where I am going...there needs to be a real plan to disperse them throughout the US. Houston does not have the resources to take all of these people on.

Sort of reminds me of the invasion from Haiti that Jimmy Carter allowed back in 1980.

Say.................I wonder if Haiti would accept these people as a sort of reverse of 1980.

It is only hyperbole

Seriously, it will be hard for any one city to take a couple hundred thousand new indigents. Then again, CA does this on a daily basis, as does the AZ and New Mexico border towns.

Somehow, I sense these NO people will end up spread all over the place across a number of states. I don't hink NO can be rebuilt.

Notice how Governor Perry pats himself on the back for taking in the "refugees", but doesn't offer up any venues in Austin.

Source?

Michael Savage has suggested that Bush immediately stop his plan to close the many large U.S. military bases

Once again proving that Savage is a demagog and uniformed to boot.

The bases scheduled for closure won't be closing for a couple years.

"Michael Savage has suggested that Bush immediately stop his plan to close the many large U.S. military bases that already have infrastructure in place and use them to house these desperate refugees."

I think that's a great idea. I'm thinking of the airforce base near Blytheville, Arkansas that has been closed for some time now. Lots of houses standing empty there. Think they tried to sell them to the public when the base closed, but it didn't go over too well.

They think there are around 8000 at the Astrodome now. That makes me doubly upset about this whole thing.

Who is THEY? Why do let THEM doubly upset you with rumor and innuendo?

Shake yourself free from the brainwashing MSM, gal.

Savage is a freaking idiot. He acts as if those bases were selected for closure and then shut down the next day. Most of them won't be fully decommissioned for years.

San Antonio mayor said some are being flown into a closed AFB, and crews are installing AC tonight in a large building that can take in approx 7,000. More plans are in the works - the people of SA are mobilized and planning to take in more from NO.

Thank you, San Antonio!

"Turning away" is not entirely accurate. They are Re-directing to other shelters.
