A detachment of 300 Arkansas National Guard troops landed in anarchic New Orleans on Thursday, with the authorization to shoot and kill "hoodlums" Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco said. "Three hundred of the Arkansas National Guard have landed in the city of New Orleans," said Blanco.
"These troops are fresh back from Iraq, well trained, experienced, battle tested and under my orders to restore order in the streets," Blanco said.
"They have M-16s and they are locked and loaded.
"These troops know how to shoot and kill and they are more than willing to do so if necessary and I expect they will," said Blanco.

Who gave the order? I hope it was my governor, Mike Huckabee.

This is from the French press. Tread cautiously before accepting it as true and accurate. It sounds a bit too "militant" and the allusions to Iraq operations are not complimentary. I would be surprised if this verbiage came from that weeping wishy-washy LA governor, as I would be if this was being treated as a military peacekeeping operation. It is a civilian law enforcement operation with military support, mostly military MP's.

The left will now start crying that it's not fair that the looters have to go up against hardened soldiers back from Iraq. Anyone hear the ACLU calling?

I hope they don't rotate duty too much. There's a downside to having too many soldiers get too comfortable with the idea of shooting at civilians, even if it is a necessary evil at this time.

I'm glad that the National Guard is there and they MUST do everything necessary to restore law and order.
But, if Blanco is talking like this, she has clearly "gone over the edge" (probably from stress) and I have serious doubts about her ability to govern.

If this is true, it would be headline news on every media outlet in this country.
Since it is not, I doubt this is true.

Sounds like Blanco just switched to the Republican party.
I think this RAT bitch knows that in the end, it will be her and Mayor Nagin who will have the blame pinned on them for the open door given to the thugs.
I hope all the RATs see what their 40 years of law and order neglect has brought to this nation.
