CNN's Anderson Cooper Losing It -- LIVE!!!
CNN -- live ^ | September 2, 2005 | self - vanity

Posted on 09/01/2005 4:23:09 PM PDT by Poundstone

Anybody watching Anderson Cooper now? He's losing it publicly, blasting Sen. Landrieu, saying she doesn't understand the pain of the New Orleans survivors. He seems traumatized by having witnessed a couple of dead bodies in the streets. Cooper seems like he's descending into madness.

ugh. My first time on CNN's website. What a bunch of morons. They are misery magnets. They should all be forceably shot up with Prozac (or Thorazine) and spare us the bathos.

To be honest, I liked it. For once, it seemed like an honest real person esxpressing outrage. He said to her somwething like "why are you pols slapping each other on the back while people are dying in the street"

I get physically sick just watching these videos coming in on the cable channels, cannot begin to imagine actually being there. It's a town I have always loved, with all its warts. Just too sad.

Agreed. It is sad because I know that I will never again see it as it was.

I sure don't understand all the Shep Smith bashing I'm seeing on FR. From my observation, and others I've spoken to, I think that Shep truly is horrified by the scenes he is witnessing. After reading all the Shep bashing, I began to really concentrate on his reporting. I see a man who's face and words show the anguish he's going through as a human being watching his fellow Americans suffer. If he's acting, then he deserves an Emmy. I believe he is sincere, and yes, he is a reporter with a job to do, but he is a human being too.

I wonder if people slammed Walter Conkrite for showing despair and even tears when he announced that John F. Kennedy was dead. Yes, they probably did. There will always be callous people, but I hope at a time like this, people could find more important things to do than spend their time nit-picking.

So she should lie to satisfy a reporter with disaster fatigue?

Geesh, these guys can't win. If they show no emotion, they are considered heartless, they show fear or sadness, they are "publicity hounds" or showmen.

Poor Shep, he's getting a bad wrap.

This needs to a nonpartisan issue. Its a devastating disaster and my prayers to the people trying to survive this. It will infinitely change America.

They need to break down these refugess into smaller groups and keep them within the state. Massive evacuations before they can attepmt clean up. They should probably get boats in there asap and get the refugees broken up and to higher ground. These larger camps are breeding chaos and taking away from the mission of saving people on rooftops etc.

"I don't care what he looks like I want to know why he would lie about the people at the Superdome being supplied with water and provisions."

The people at the Superdome have been supplied, from what I gather from tv.

However, the 15,000 people at the Convention Center (not the Superdome) who were sent there by police after the storm because the Superdome was full and filthy... they are not getting any supplies, from what I can tell.

He looks like dishonest, at the least, for arguing that the media is overreporting "bad news" when children and elderly are dying for lack of clean water, and it's all being captured on camera.

It was NEVER designated a shelter, so it wasn't set up.

The police moved them over in that direction (practically next door) because they were blocking the busses picking up people at the SuperDome.

They were NOT suppose to go inside.

Shep said someone knocked on the window of their truck, and that many people were doing that, asking for water or food or a ride, and that he got scared.

Yeah the reporter sets up the ambush, "why ain't you lousy pols doing anything?" The pol says what they are doing and the head shot from the reporter,"stop patting yerself on the back". Give me a break.

I saw that pompous blowhard Cafferty too. Shameless.

What difference does it make if they went inside or stayed outside? Either way, they apparently don't have any food or water.

the idea I'm getting from most of the thread is that these reporters think they're the only ones feeling any compassion for these people, while the President, senators, etc., are deliberately withholding what they woulda, coulda, shoulda provided.

As sensationalized as they are making it..what these boobs are saying is true. Its shocking...third world..of biblical proportions as one news outlet predicted before the storm hit.

Sadly, just as 9/11 resulted in a right-ward shift in this country, Katrina will move the country to the left. People are going to want more Federal involvement, and they see that the poor were primarily affected, at least that's the perception from TV. That and the higher gas prices, and the mood of the country is definately shifting the other way. I don't like it, but that's how I see it.

He looks dishonest? Good grief.

Did he say they were being supplied with water and provisions at the Convention Center?

If so, why would he lie about it? And don't you think he may know a bit more than you do about the situation?

You are so right, your entire post. And I had that same thought, that when those buses get to Houston, we'll see the same bad behavior. I hope not, but fear we will. Interesting to see how Texas deals with it. They're planning to house, feed all of them, and even educate the kids. Wow.

Because they are grabbing any microphone they can and screaming that nobody has brought them food or water.

There IS food and water at the designated shelters.

I agree with you Chena. Unfortunately, there are so many people in this world who live to criticize. I have many members of my family like this; I can barely stand to be around them.

I'd like to see the people doing all the criticizing go out there and report, and see how they like it and how they react!
