I sure don't understand all the Shep Smith bashing I'm seeing on FR. From my observation, and others I've spoken to, I think that Shep truly is horrified by the scenes he is witnessing. After reading all the Shep bashing, I began to really concentrate on his reporting. I see a man who's face and words show the anguish he's going through as a human being watching his fellow Americans suffer. If he's acting, then he deserves an Emmy. I believe he is sincere, and yes, he is a reporter with a job to do, but he is a human being too.
I wonder if people slammed Walter Conkrite for showing despair and even tears when he announced that John F. Kennedy was dead. Yes, they probably did. There will always be callous people, but I hope at a time like this, people could find more important things to do than spend their time nit-picking.
I don't think it's Shep bashing...it's reporter bashing. These guys haven't been near filth or poverty, and are thus completely repulsed. They live in elite towers in the city, get chauffered to work...and occassionally hand a homeless man some money. No wonder they're crying...
Agree; and I can forgive his occasional lapses into hyperbole as he tries to describe what appears to be; despite tv cameras. . .almost indescribable.
Shep is there and and he IS doing a great job. (Shep is from Mississippi; and close to home literally, and emotionally. . .in his reporting; and that is fine with me.)
Some posters on this thread are incredibly nasty. Maybe things are going badly in their own lives.
