He doesn't believe they'll shoot him down. We'll see.

On a completely different topic, I've been wondering about the fate of Grand Isle, Louisiana, the only inhabited barrier island in the state.

I can't understand why anyone stayed there during the storm, but they did.

I haven't read any news reports about its fate, but I did find this photo.

Zoom down to the area where the bridge crosses onto the island.

Grand Isle

Last I heard, all 7 people who stayed on Grand Isle are accounted for. Structures on the island were hit hard by the storm, as one would expect.

Here is an article from the Houston Chronicle about Grand Island, and five men who stayed and are alive and well. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/nation/3334079

A couple days ago...a council man from Grande Isle said it's pretty much been destroyed. It was posted on a thread here at FR...

Here's what was posted...

"Jefferson Co Parish council member on wwtl....stating that Grand Isle is completely destroyed...1/3 structures gone, other 2/3 severe damage.

In addition, oil rigs and oil pipelines are severely damaged. Said that the pipelines are leaking."
