Thank You!
It's going to take a while to google the timelines.
No........I'm south of B'ham. With a B'ham addy. ;-)
No....imho, there is absolutely no blame on FEMA....they come in AFTER tragedies...to help with the localities. There's no way that FEMA could micromanage each town/city/village/county in any state. That is the responsibility of local government....to establish a plan and have it ready to put into effect...the moment it is deemed necessary, by those who are elected. This is a total failure on the part of the mayor, the counties, and the Governor. States have state's rights...the President/Feds have limited powers to swoop into a state...Mayor Guiliani is the model of how to respond to an unexpected tragedy. Hurricanes are to be expected along the Gulf.
The State of Louisiana, and the Mayor of New Orleans have come up short, way short, of their paychecks.
John Edwards? The one who can see dead people standing behind people? The one who had an hour show? That John Edwards?
IS that the hotel that paid for busses and had them commandeered by FEMA?
Somebody needs to direct Vitter to the evacuation advice posted by NO linked below. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1475714/posts
OK...we've got a laugh break at post 5469 ;^D
"I can't believe that in hurricane country, the public isn't told how to be prepared. I live in earthquake country, and you can bet it's pounded into us. You know the routine--batteries, radio, meds, insurance papers, WATER and FOOD--and told to be prepared to not expect help for at least 72 hours... I'm starting to get mad..."
I live in RI and at the first report of a blizzard or a hurricane everyone , and I do mean EVERYONE, is at the local Stop & Shop getting milk, bread ,and batteries. It came in handy during the Blizzard of "78 when the state was literally shut down for a week.
Military police from the U.S. Air Force take up positions near the ferry ramp in downtown New Orleans on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005. A huge military presence has arrived in the city, restoring order and bringing with them food and water.
That was Frank Keating -- former govnr of OK

ROFLOL!!!! That's the way to prevent looting!

These are extremely large, extremely high-resolution satellite photos of the areas hit by Katrina. Click on the little black boxes to see satellite photos of the devastation. This deserves its own thread, IMHO, but I opted against it thinking it would get yanked.
Here's one they didn't ask her;
"Since you're an intelligent woman, can you think up some questions that are more moronic than the ones we already asked for us to ask you? We're having trouble topping them in stupidity."
If the RATS and their media handmaidens at CNN and MSNBC have turned this story to racism, they will not only lose their audience, they will engender a backlash for Bush.
They are grossly overplaying their hand. Their best talking point is competence, or lack thereof.
He said that white families in America are generally worth $80,000.
WHAT A LOUSY POS!!! I'M ON UNEMPLOYMENT RIGHT NOW. I never made close to that in my entire life!!!
not sure, that was the caller to Oreilly last night who relayed that story. their hotel spent $25K to hire ten buses to come in and take alot of people in the french quarter hotels out, and FEMA comandeered them.
You know you guys (and Atlanta) always seem to get the tornadoes from the Gulf hurricanes. I remember Ivan was horrible! By the time it gets up here, it's usually wind & rain, although Katrina blowed pretty good up here.
