Peach posted this recap on the Live Thread of the President's remarks:
President: Millions of tons of food and water on its way to the Gulf and NO. Medicine being sent.
Working with Governor to deploy 600 of the newly arrived MP's to secure the site so food and medicine can get in there.
People working hard to help those who were affected. Thanking people for their help. Results not acceptable.
Looking forward to talking with people on the ground.
We'll deploy the assets necessary to get situation under control and get help for affected people and begin long term plan.

I agree - my "3yr < 50%" is nearly certain, in my mind. I would not argue at all about your 10yr modification.

Everything's gonna be OK now. Geraldo's on the ground.
Our prayers have been answered. You mean he managed to pull himself away from Natalee?

The magic words are "state of insurrection". All she has to do is declare that, and off come the gloves and out come the tanks and gunships and littoral warfare units.
But she won't do that because she'll have to admit that all of her policies have failed, that she failed, and she can't face that.

Then you don't know her very well. Check with the people of Arksanas. BYW they did not elect her, they elected Bill.

The Convention Center wasn't a refuge center..it was broken into and the word spread "go to the Convention Center"..there were 88 cops that tried to go to restore order and the were beaten back by a mob group.
How is it FEMA's responsibility to be aware of somewhere that people are that they went on their own and broke into and then proceeded to rape and pillage?
FEMA works according to order and plans, put this here, go here.
The majority of people left in New Orleans have never understood order and plans.

I know.
I was responding to spectre's insult to you and she was insulted by it, and she now accuses me of playing 'mind games.'
My conversation with her is over. This is about something much bigger than any of us realize, and the focus needs to stay on this enormous disaster, not on the kinds of things she said to you.

I've only passed on the outskirts of Jackson. Never been in the city proper.
Is it really a crime-ridden dump - much like NO?
To: All
Okay -- I know I'm a NOOB, and therefore, the flames are gonna be automatic, but I've been following this thread for 4 days now, and I just gotta say something:
I'm aghast at the number of people on this forum (FR) that insist on demanding that the Fairy Godmother Federal Government wave the ol' magic wand and make everything all better.
And, of that group, most of them are perfectly willing to throw the Constitution in the crapper.
If this disaster accomplishes nothing else, it sure points out the "Fair Weather Conservatives" among us.

Still waiting to hear if you AGREE with Bush's statement this morning. Cat got your tongue?
Gosh, he was being critical of the relief efforts. Shame on him, LOL.

I just can't stand weepy, "oh-woe-is-me", giving-up-too-easily women. Can't stand them. And I am a woman. Publicly crying is unacceptable when you are in a position of leadership.

You are misinformed. Police routed civilians to the Convention Center once the Superdome area filled up. There are plenty of press mentions of this FACT.
To: Spktyr
The Lt. Gov couldn't possibly be this bad. The Lt. Governor is Mary Landrieu's brother.
