28,000 National Guard troops are deployed to the disaster areas in Mississippi, Alabama, and to Louisiana, where SWAT teams are working to combat the looters and shooters in New Orleans. Additional 1400 National Guard troops are being deployed daily.

Shootings reported at a New Orleans hospital, rescue boats, and a military helicopter, while conditions continue to deteriorate at the SuperDome amid refugee deaths and chaos. Evacuation of New Orleans continues.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert has voiced serious doubts about rebuilding New Orleans with federal funds, while assuring the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida that the United States Congress stands ready to help them in their time of need. New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin issued a "desperate SOS."

Doctors at two desperately crippled hospitals in New Orleans called The Associated Press Thursday morning pleading for rescue, "We have been trying to call the mayor's office, we have been trying to call the governor's office ... we have tried to use any inside pressure we can. We are turning to you. Please help us," said Dr. Norman McSwain, chief of trauma surgery at Charity Hospital, the largest of two public hospitals.

The Port of New Orleans is now open to shallow draft vessels. Congress is reconvening in an emergency session. International offers to assist the U.S. have been received from Russia, Japan, Canada, France, Honduras, Germany, Venezuela, Jamaica, Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, China, South Korea, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, NATO and the Organization of American States.

This wouldn't happen in most places in America. It has happened because a bunch of spineless, indecisive, incompetent, ignorant, socialists run the show down there. There is a huge (not hugh) temptation here to say 'to hell with them all', but a lot of innocents are still in the mix, they need help. Delivering that help requires elimination the threats down there. This Mayor and Governor have done more than fail. They have allowed anarchy to take hold. They should be held criminally negligent for every death due to this tyranny. We should declare this an insurrection, and send in regular troops (this is constitutional), kill anything that doesn't surrender. These people aren't just criminal, they are anarchists, they are traitors. May God bless America!

The CNN reporter is holed up in a police station with cops who are trying to defend their station from the militias. Cops told the reporter "DO NOT GO OUT AT NIGHT". Snipers are an increasing problem...

You, like the rest of us have no idea what aid got in to whom becuase nobody is reproting on it.

Did you know that provisions have been being flown into the New Orleans airport since Tuesday? DId you know that the aircraft flying them in have been flying out stranded citizens?

The reason I ask is that I consider myself a pretty informed guy and I had no idea this was happening until this evening. So naturally my question is what else positive is going on that nobody is telling me about.

The Mayor told them to go there, but that goes right back to the basic issue...New Orleans had no hurricane preparedness plan. If they did the Super Dome would have been prepared ahead of time to handle the influx of people and there would also have been a plan in place to get them out of there if the city flooded, which is always a possibility when your city sits below sea level.
