Former Presidents Bush, Clinton asked to raise cash for hurricane victims
WASHINGTON President Bush is asking his father and former President Bill Clinton to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The two have been raising money for victims of the tsunami that hit Asia in December. The former presidents plan to meet at the White House today with the current chief executive.
A White House spokesman also says President Bush will tour the damage zone tomorrow by helicopter and then will see some spots on the ground. The spokesman says Bush wanted to visit the area earlier but "didn't want to be disruptive of efforts on the ground."
"I have no doubt that W will cough up some change; he seems a decent person"
The President and Mrs. Bush have already written a large check to disaster relief. Undisclosed amount.
Better than complain, why aren't we all doing the same?
An entire city has been almost wiped off the face of the Planet, due to a natural catastrophe.
Blaming Bush will not help one single person out there deporived of food, water, shelter and sanitation through no fault of their own.The physical and emotional devastation is enormous..
This is a hurricane, but a major natural or terrorist disaster could happen anywhere, to any of us.
And you know this how precisely?
I mean that's what everything is always all about with you rightists, isn't it? It's all about keeping YOUR money.
Well KEEP it. There are plenty of generous loving people in this country who will make up for your lack of compassion and decency.
The people in the Gulf region will be cared for in spite of your efforts to keep water and food from them.
Well folks we better get our guns, bullets, and survival gear ready.

I do have duct tape. :)
Do you think Chertoff is lying?
I don't know about you, but I sure as Hades would eliminate my violent neighbor without hesitation if it meant my own survival.
Or don't you know that?
And you think I am being mean-spirited?
Tend to the beam in thine own eye, hypocrite.
If they can raise money for foreigners, they can raise money for Americans.
You have made your point abundantly clear.
I'm no hypocrite.
I know that. I also know that those who are not in the flooded areas are alreay getting essentials. It is those who are in the thug-controlled regions who are not. Like...duh?
Back off on your emotionalism. It's making you irrational.
Liar. I said NOT UNTIL order was restored. I suppose you think you have the right to lie to make your idiocy look better, don't you?
How pathetic.
I'm no hypocrite.
'Fraid you are. And a liar as well.
And I'm not backing off, because the reason I'm emotional is because people are in need of water and food, and have no homes and no hope right now, and you rightists are griping and whining about money being raised to meet their needs.
It's disgusting.
Thank you for admitting you're emotional about it. Now admit your lying and hypocrisy and we'll call it a day.
And if they're dead by then? No big deal?
It's not a lie. It's a logical conclusion based on the human need for water.
I'm neither a liar nor a hypocrite. And no amount of repetition on your part makes it so.
Be honest. Are you on this thread to support the raising of money (from willing American citizens) for people in need, or are you here to ridicule what's being done by President Bush?
Didn't you say in an earlier message that order would be restored soon? And now you're making it out to be like it'll be long enough to leave people dead? Which is it?
C'mon...you are not being logical here.
You stated that I said to not give money to the needy. That is a lie. I said no such thing. If you cannot admit this, then you are an even greater hypocrite than you were just a few messages before.
That means the some people........elderly and young will die if you get your wish. You don't want the innocent to get money until the guilty are stopped.
And take a look at the first 20 posts on this thread if you think uberright wingers have even a modicum of concern for those in need.
There is no hypocrisy in pointing out the horror of those who look to their pocketbooks and their politics before they look to the needs of others who are in desperate straignts.
(And if you are not emotional about this tragedy, it is you who are 'pathetic').
I'm off this thread.........you may continue your posts if you wish. I find this thread disgusting.
Look, you are misunderstanding me (BIG time), and I have misunderstood you, in light of the ugliness of many on this thread.
I'm sorry. Enough.
