The libs will reap what they have sown, one-hundredfold. This is their doing, creating an underclass unable to support themselves without Big Daddy Government holding their hands and paying every step of the way. Oh, and they shoot at rescue workers and helicopters too.

If they really thought that the gummint was their papa, wouldn't they at least refrain from impeding what rescue efforts have already been mounted?

Maybe I misread the original post, but I think the Navy is there to support the CG operation. The USCG reports to DHS, not DoD. Even though coasties are treated like military, legally they aren't. The Coasties are there as LEOs, and should be the only ones in a position to be fired upon.

"The ACLU will gather an army!"

Of lawyers, right? And they will throw multiple legal briefs at the troops who are trying to bring order.

Additional Ships Headed to U.S. Gulf Coast

Story Number: NNS050901-08
Release Date: 9/1/2005 10:36:00 AM
From Commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet Public Affairs

NORFOLK, Va. (NNS) -- USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41) are making preparations to get underway Sept. 1 for areas off the U.S. Gulf Coast in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) relief operations associated with Hurricane Katrina.

Truman will serve as the command center and afloat staging base, and will carry additional helicopters from Naval Air Station Jacksonville to support search and rescue (SAR) efforts. Whidbey Island will bring with it the capability to employ a movable causeway to the region.

The Navy's involvement in the humanitarian assistance operations is a collaborative effort. The Navy is working to meet local and state requirements forwarded to the U.S. Northern Command through the Department of Defense from state governors and FEMA federal coordinators.

Truman and Whidbey Island will join five other Norfolk-based ships that are already at sea and will remain on station for as long as necessary to provide important humanitarian assistance to the U.S. Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Katrina.

Additionally, USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8), based at Naval Station Earl, N.J., is en-route and arrived in the Gulf Coast operating area Aug. 31.

I don't know where you heard crime was up in NYC after 9 11. Thats wrong as I work for the city and was part of the clean up crew and the security in Manhatten was extremly tight. There is no way the NYPD would have let anything get that far out of hand.

Until then, Uncle Jesse will continue to place his lips on Hugo Chavez's posterior, while the Reverend Al does the same for Cindy Crawford.

I'm having a hard time keeping my lunch down with those visuals ...

Not that I actually wish that any of your military would be shot or hurt by these liberals, but due to the savage nature of these animals, its time to take the gloves off and start shooting the ones raping and pillaging on american soil. What an embarrassment to this country these animals are. Them being taken out of the gene pool would only be a benefit to man kind.

I heard fights and unrest was breaking out at the dome as well. Their are a lot of innocent people in there that have nothing to do with the criminals out in the streets.

Armed men with long guns shown wading through water... no ID...

Take a breath...those were po-lice, keeping an eye on the perimeter of one of the boat launch areas. The guys on shore were in more traditional uniform, which I guess you didn't notice.

I wonder why the National Guard doesn't have to go in to Metairie or Kenner?

I never said crime was up in NYC after 9/11. I was in downtown Manhattan during 9/11 and in the days afterward. My parents live in a sketchy neighborhood in Brooklyn and crime was almost non-existent the first couple of days after thr attacks. Everyone (including the criminals) were in such a shock afterwards.

Congress just announced it will reconvene from summer recess

I'm confused, the President goes to Crawford, Texas for the month of August with his staff where he continues to work and that's called a "vacation," but Congress takes the month off to do nothing (except perhaps to travel to soem exotic place at taxpayers expense on a "fact finding mission") and that's called a "recess."
