It is worse than most of us can imagine. But I'm not even sure this guy said what he did about Iraq. This story is sourced to the AP. Sounds like something they might doctor a story with.

Welcome to FR, moron.
In case you haven't noticed, all that nonsense has nothing to do with the fact that a major natural disaster has occurred and it's difficult to reach those folks who, for whatever reason, chose not to heed warnings to evacuate the city.
Anyone attempting to use this disaster to score political points is the moral equivalent of a looter as far as I'm concerned.

Do you really think Dan Rather cared about anyone but himself? Think of the acclaim Rather would be receiving now,
if he had investigated the dangers awaiting New Orleans.

I totally agree with you. It is MORE than time to quit supplying other countries and their "needs" and take care of our own. Our foreign aid should be suspended (I, like you, would eliminate it entirely FOREVER.), as should the dues to the UN, the money headed for the Palestine Authority, money to Africa to combat AIDS, and other boondoggles too numerous to mention.

WTF??? One in five or one in ten didn't leave when they were told to do so?
Another legacy of the welfare state. Unless you go pick them up and cater to their every "need", they won't take care of themselves. With 3-4 generations of welfare, we certainly have bred the SURVIVAL GENE out of lots of the USA population.
If I hear one more sound bite or picture of a huge black woman bitching about not having any ICE when she has no place to store it or electricity to keep it for any length of time, I will have to go outside and puke, I swear.
To: wardaddy
New Orleans didn't exactly become "multicultural" due to voluntary immigration, you know.

I wonder how many are at the convention center now.
" 12:38 P.M. - (AP): Two French Quarter hotels says federal officials have foiled their plans to hire buses to ferry guests to higher ground.
The general manager of the Astor Hotel at Astor Crowne Plaza says the hotels teamed to hire ten buses to carry some 500 guests.
But Peter Ambros says federal officials commandeered the buses, and told the guests to join thousands of other evacuees at the New Orleans convention center.
One man says he and others had paid $45 a seat for the buses, and that they were "totally stunned" when the buses never arrived. Another woman said the crowd had waited 14 hours for the buses. She says the idea of walking to the convention center scared her because of reports of looting.
The woman says it appears Louisiana officials have forgotten about tourists, and are just intent on getting their own residents out.

Personally, I try NOT to think about him.
He used to piss me off with his self righteous and condescending attitude.

""I don't treat my dog like that," 47-year-old Daniel Edwards said as he pointed at the woman in the wheelchair. "I buried my dog." He added: "You can do everything for other countries but you can't do nothing for your own people. You can go overseas with the military but you can't get them down here." You can also apparently sit right there doing nothing but complain. The left lied to you. The government can't and shouldn't solve all your problems. You eventually have to get off your rump and help your self or others.

People are dying in the streets of the South, while Halliburton pads its contracts with MY money in a far-off land. And you can only blame clichees. 1. It is fair game to debate if we should be in Iraq, but:
2. There is no real reason to think that this situation would be any different if we weren't, and:
3. Drop the Halliburton crap. It's silly, and makes you look like you don't know what you are talking about.

stop the war in Iraq. The hell with the Iraqis...bla bla
Get a grip - you are no help and your comments stink of desperation and Cindy Osama. Get a grip.
What we need is calm and reason. The war on terror - Iraqi theater - will stop when we win. There is no alternative.
