Live from the White House in the 7am EDT half hour of Thursday's Good Morning America, Diane Sawyer pressed President George W. Bush to respond to a series of liberal talking points, starting with how "people have worried that the National Guard is stretched too thin" with "so many overseas" in Iraq. Later, she demanded: "Do we have to make a choice, at some point, between what we're doing in Iraq and what is needed, right now, to funnel massive amounts of money" to the hurricane victims? She also wanted Bush to "guard against price gouging" and wondered: "Is this a time to call on Americans to simply pull back, not use the gas? Pull back and stay at home and save the gas for those who are in dire need." Sawyer forwarded how "some people have said that the oil companies, themselves, should simply forfeit some of their profits in this time of national crisis."

Me too. Never will be able to vote for a Democrat again. Will always wonder if they will appoint the next Jamie Gorelic type to a important position. I remember when they started out with this same kind of crap right after 9-11. This tells us a LOT more about the quality of Bush's foes then it does about Bush. Bet you by Sunday this hypercritical posturing with the bodies of dead Americans as political props will magically vanish from the coverage.
I liked that the president got a waiver for the blending of fuels yesterday. Removing all taxes would be the next thing I'd like to see happen.
Amen
That is the new angle. I'm starting to hear more and more people parroting that line: "We need to pull the troops out of Iraq to protect New Orleans from looters!"
Sawyer is worse than any looter or sniper!
Diane, this is a DISASTER and you are part of the PROBLEM!
STFU!!!
Diane, we are not interested in you or your DNC talking points. I hope this will be the last I hear out of you on any subject.
Why doesn't Diane ask the Mayor of New Orleans or the Governor of Louisiana some tough questions?
Just one pair of Diane's rather large Manolo Blanik's would buy more than 160gal of gas at $3/gal. Perhaps she should auction off all but a dozen pair of must-haves and buy fuel for the relief effort. But that'll never happen.
MSM anchor-types think they're "giving" by "putting a face on the story" and "asking the tough questions", when, in fact, they're just tight and won't contribute any of their own money to a cause, even political. And never get caught between "journalists" and a free buffet.
This is the wealthiest country on Earth. We have the best, most competent military on Earth. Does anyone seriously believe we can't handle the Iraq war and a hurricane?
I have to say that any clips I have heard of Gov. Blanco make her sound overwhelmed and awkward.
She does not comes across as an effective and self-assured leader at all.
She and Hillary would make bobbing head dolls spin.
Notice how she always turns her head down to her side squints her eyes and lowers her voice, Hillary just bobbs up and down and begins every sentence with "you know".
She is so one sided, can't stand her. President Bush should decline all Liberal Media request and give them to someone who really cares. They just looks for ways to drive the stake a little deeper.
Had Marion Barry been in the chair next to Sawyer, he would have proclaimed: "The *itch set me up." Bush, however, is too much of a gentleman. We can say it for him.
Yes, They are called Liberals.
Well said!
I posted that yesterday and was chastized for it. Either a troll... or just hopelessly stupid!
As always, Conservatives act . . . Liberals whine.
A tiny church in my hometown has already raised $5600 for the folks along the Gulf Coast. Not much moola you say? They only have about 75 members, counting all the youngsters, and they're some of the poorest folks in the community . . . but these Hispanic-Americans are going door-to-door around the clock.
And for you cynical types . . . they won't accept money, they only accept checks made out to a local bank so there can be no misunderstanding of their intent. I gladly gave them a check . . . I've NEVER done that before. But they're as Conservative as my redneck-self is and my respect for them has grown by leaps and bounds.
Catastophes separate the wheat from the chaff . . . Do I hear Teddy Kennedy and the rest of his ilk wallowing around in the dust-bin while "every day" Americans get their work gloves on and go about solving the problems?
If we use their (MSM) own logic - how can she question the President of the United States if she has never been the President of the United States?
How many people outside(or inside for that matter) Louisiana know this? How many pols are willing to admit it? BTAIM, New Orleans managed to come up with enough dough to build the Super Dome (which itself will have to be rebuilt). They COULD have spent that money shoring up the level system. What ought to be done is, of course, bring back New Orleans but with the understanding that whatever you do will be only a stopgap measure. By all means, restore the French Quarter etc, but keeping in mind that eventually NOLA will be like Brugge in Belgium, a museum city, by-passed by history. It happens.
