I suggested to a co worker that leaving the body (with brains blown out)of a looter outside each store would probably act as a good deterrent tofurther looting if there is anything left. Also, snipers could be effective.

Prayers up for the good folks & their rescuers.

After what I have heard in the last hour, I am now going away to weep.

You hang the body up with a sign on it that says "Looter". that will send the message.

Each one of the people must be absolutely filthy, stinking, and desperately needing complete bathing and disinfection. The Texas National Guard ought to set up massive bathing and disinfection facilities outside of the Astrodome and require each of the "guests" to bathe and disinfect as he or she arrives, and before being allowed into the dome.

That is an excellent, and thought provoking, observation!

How is Texas going to handle the "health maintenance" of these folks? Will they require shower? Disinfection process? Booster shots? Will new clothing be provided? Required or merely offered? Or will they simply be deposited "as is", with the state/city depending on charitable organizations and donations?

And, a bit off the subject, will the refugees be search before entering the dome? Are certain items liable to confiscation? Or, again, will they simply be deposited "as-is"?

With proper application of Texas law, this shouldn't be much of a problem. If it happens in Texas, it'll stay in Texas.

I know that Texans carry guns and will handle these lawless SOB's quite handily.

All you need to do is go on a long back packing trip or canoe trip to learn how truly horrible it feels to get really dirty and how wonderful it is to get clean. I've done it and I know. Each of those people in the Superdome has been through a far worse experience, and been forced to live, in intense heat and humidity, with the raw filth excreted by about 25,000 others, not something included in the normal back packing, canoeing, or military experience. Providing them with, and requiring them to use, effective personal sanitation has to be the Texas authorities' first priority.
