Good morning, Everyone. Good morning to our

Military, our Allies and their families.

Thank you, Ms. Feather, for preparing the Canteen for today's activities.

I guess the Canteen is going to be a little quiet today. I'm figuring many people are going to be busy keeping track of those affected by Katrina. And, finding out what we can do to help.

Excuse me for a moment as I have something to say and don't want to sound preachy, but I need to say it.

Now, this is just my opinion (and not the only one I have) but, I know that the needs of those affected are huge, especially in N.O. I know they need our prayers, but I think we should not forget to pray more for the relief workers. After all, when trying to reach the thousands of people who need help, these relief workers will probably not sleep or eat until the very last one is helped. Even, after many homeless find a place to sleep, these relief workers keep on working. Like the energizer bunny, they keep going. In order for the workers to keep up with the demands of the thousands who need help, they will need our prayers.

BTW, after some of the behavior of many of those affected by Katrina, especially in N.O., that I've witnessed on the television, I am deeply ashamed of many of my fellow humans.

Now, one other thing that I truly believe will need our prayers. The United States. I'm sure many of you are aware of the enormous financial burden we have incurred since 9/11. Not only the war, but the natural disasters, and assistance to others.

Even though we are a rich and powerful nation, those of us who budget know there is a limit to which you can spend. Especially, when the U.S. forgives so many debts and are not collecting additional revenue.

Our government will have to become very creative in finding solutions to increasing the revenue without increasing our taxes. Otherwise, we might as well expect to be taxed more in the years ahead. That, or a dismal alternative.

Oh, now that I've got that off my chest I must make my rounds and then get to work. I will be leaving work early today and have things that must get done before I go.

But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!

Now remember, the Canteen is

So, come on in and sit for a while. There's alway plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM

DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

Good morning Beachie. Yes, there are difficult times ahead- but this I know from history- we will make it thru and be OK. If you go back to the beginning of our history here- it was a handful of people who pushed for, fought for and paid for our country and many others rode along or were guided to jump on board. So we will do it again. Look at how many people voted for President Bush- and how many people are taking to the streets against the anti left. Sure not hundreds of million- but it is a very good start. Most Americans do care very much and are good people.

It may take a while to get these states put back together-but the majority of Americans ARE NOT LOOTERS. We all know deep in our hearts that there is an element of our society - that well, isn't really a part of our society - and that is by their own choice- they are always present- we have just seen them on TV for two days non-stop.

I saw these same people in the LA riot- and they looted for the same reasons( beacuse they are full of self loathing and have the same self control as animals)- and for a while I thought the world was on it's ear while I stayed holed up in my apartment to avoid them. But the sun came up again and the looting stopped. And so it goes for our Southern friends. I promise. :]

Thanks for the cute post and for reading my morning ramblings- Now off for coffee...(J-man got up early with an allergy attack so I have been running this AM already..)

Good morning all! I hope you can forgive me if I don't make it into the Canteen much today. I'm going to be working really hard on the Counter rally against Cindy for Saturday (or as hard as I can) plus we have parent orientation for school today. (The eldest 2 will be attending school 1 day a week! WOOHOOO!) SO I'll be in and out! HUGS to all!
