clearly the Dems in the state are out of their league. Let Rudy take over.

Truer words have never been posted. This is the most appalling thing I've ever witnessed. Shepherd Smith of FNC has been the only relief for the refugees.

Yep, all the stores are looted ...

Not all, I think the looters skipped the bookstores.

wonder when the police realize that the city has very little tax base left to pay anyone what they will do.

Fox New reported that LA can't declare martial law. They can declare a state of emergency which in their laws is about the same thing.

What else does Martial Law permit? Shooting on sight, I hope. Especially those who are terrorizing hospital and relief staff. Stealing food and water is one thing; anything else is unforgivable.

He needs an Infantry Division or two. Where would he get em?

He's been such a drama queen, I kinda think he's auditioning for Larry King's job over at CNN.

Seriously, someone mentioned earlier that there was no provisions in NO law that would allow martial law to be declared.
Does anyone know if this is true? Plus, a mayor cannot declare this as far as i know, it has to be a state governor at the very least.

I'm not here to defend these two, but I do want to offer up some other things to ponder along with this.

For decades the good citizens of New Orleans knew that their city sat up to twelve feet below sea level. For decades they knew that 18 foot levies would not protect the city against a thirty food storm surge. For decades they should have figured out for themselves how vulnerable they were and prepare.

I'm sure there are some issues that this governor and mayor should be taken to task over, but everyone from FEMA on down ignored this situation for a good long time. I don't have the stomach to tee off on the mayor and the governor at this time.

Is it deserving? It may be. To be honest, FEMA should have been on top of this. It is their mandate to prepare for and administer catastrophic natural disasters. Where were they?

After this event, are you comfortable to know that FEMA is in the loop to manage our nuclear arsenal in the event of a national crisis?

The fools are playing semantics while they should be dumping some lead into the looters.

Because the savages weren't put down two days ago, they are now forming roving gangs that are very well armed, and they are beginning to display some basic tactics (covering fire), which will make them a much more formidable force to deal with once someone gets serious about it.

The time to deal with them was two days ago. And this latest announcement isn't "dealing with them". It's little more than political cover for the assclowns politicians in LA.

Maybe some disgruntled Guardsmen or police officers will take things into their own hands and deal with the problem. Otherwise, many innocents will suffer at the hands of the gangs.

I lived in Charlotte during hurricane Hugo, same thing happened, the looters pillaged downtown stores, the National Guard was out the next morning with M16's in hand.

If I were the one who stood between decent people and the two-legged vermin causing the problems, I'd probably do the the job pro bono. How about you?

What exactly does that translate to in terms of government coersion and compliance with the law?

Beirut, Water World style.

We'll end up in Vegas. Dry as a f*rt. Boy, the African-Americans are really conducting themselves proud. < /sarcasm> I'm watching O'Reilly and there are a few men stating "Just tell me where to go.... Just give me some orders."

The populace is stunned.

"Dems in the state are out of their league"

Since 9/11/2001 the so-called "first-responders" have been getting money, and drilling for bad situations.

Seems like NO didn't do very well in their drill run-throughs, maybe spent the money on sumpin else.

Looks like zero response on the tube, so far.

About the same time as this post FOX News reported more reports of thugs in the streets carrying AK-47's as the son sets on New Orleans. If there ever was a case for Martial Law, this is it.

I haven't seen any lawnmowers going out the doors. Or weedwackers. You know, things a looter could use to actually make a living one day.
