They have been dropping supplies today. The inept Governor had to submit a request for federal help and she spent more time on TV then she did in asking for help. Coast Guard was the first in to start search and rescue which is the first priority.
The fact the state of LA did not have enough food and water in the Superdome is a local not a federal problem.
The media isn't talking about the drops that have occurred since the flooding either. I was talking about the ships with the hospital and other supplies that are on the ships like they took to the region for the tsunami relief. That didn't happen overnight.
I don't know who "we" is, but it's a pathetic reflection on a civilized society if people need to view traumatic death and bloated bodies in order to grasp the gravity of the situation.
Either that, or you folks just want to be voyeurs. You are saying then it is pay for view.

It's an eye opener. I read it some years ago. The book was a gift and not a topic that I would have chosen on my own; it turned out to be the "red pill" of the politics of flooding in the South.
Japan, in addition to those countries listed already: Russia, Germany, Great Britain. Japan's response was near immediate.
I will agree to disagree with you on this. It has nothing to do with the horrific suggestions that you are assuming about us. So I won't push you further on this point.
there was video of cops played on one station.....the reporter asked him what he was doing, and he said looking for looters...acting like he was not filling up his cart instead.
I would like to think they are just filling their carts with things they can use to help people, but it doesn't look that way.
However, I am sure only a small number of officials are taking part in the lawlessness.
In comparison... you haven't seen Barbour's drawling mug on TV. My guess is that he's actually working instead of posturing.
New Orleans has the highest murder rate in the nation, theyhave the lowest-paid police department in the nation. Mary Landrieu is telling Larry king she wants at least as much or more than NYC got for 9/11... problem is from what I've seen of the people running the State, it will be like sending the money to a 3rd world nation, money get to the top and people who would benefit will not benefit.
Right. Money is needed to help people who lost everything not to pay for executives, future expenses, trips, etc.
Makes me furious that these ghouls abuse us and take funds away from those needing them.
OK so if YOU know this then Why did not the COP on the road right there with Shep or The Sate Police lady say "Just have them walk toward the Superdome?"
Sorry but your logic cuts both ways.
I am almost going crazy thinking about this. You give the order to evacuate. Some people don't take you seriously or they don't have a way out.
Why not bring buses to the local elementary schools? People who want to leave can leave from a near-by location. People who weren't sure if you were serious would see the buses and re-evaluate whether their position. Yes, some would still stay, but many, many others would take the hint and get out.
I know this is all 20/20 hindsight, but lord almighty, I don't think they even tried to get the poor and infirm out.
There have been reports that water and food drops have been taking place throughout the day. However the scale of the disaster zone may keep it from being very visible.
Ask Kathleen Blanco. The Louisiana National Guard is under her command.
I saw a photo today of a copy with a handful of brand new DVDs and a small box that looked like it may have a small piece of electronic equipment like an MP3 player. Not sure how he needs those for search, rescue & survival.
It is worth it -- my oldest daughter and her husband are in the Navy, my son is a grad student teaching English Comp, and my youngest is a Journalism student. Both kids are at The University of Oklahoma and I see a lot of really neat kids that are their friends all the time.
We had two OU football players last year risk their lives to save some people who had an accident on I-35 and their vehicle burst into flames. Those are the ones you don't hear a lot about.
I thought it might be up to $6 already. I'm no prognostic, but I think it likely to get worse before it gets better, if ever. I try to keep my tank full, seldom let it go below half.
I saw one eyewitness report of that. Haven't a clue if its true or not.
