President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Somebody needs to write to Cafferty and set him straight. I'd do it but I am about as articulate as an orangutan.

Cafferty said that - he was referring to a slate.com article today. Darn liberal Complainers. Certianinly not my first choice for a dinner party guest.
By the way - I met Wolfie a couple of years ago (I had no choice, it was at a function)- I swear he can't be more than 5'3 or4" tall.

Oh, I already dropped him a note earlier today.

Let me ask you this: do you consider "You are a complete and utter A$$hole" to be articulate? :-)

Just got a call from my friend who has a mom, sister and brother in law in the BR area. They just called to tell her there is a big ol riot happening there. Her family is loading their guns, getting in the car to get the nieces and nephews as their parents both work for the power company and cannot leave their jobs! Scarey!!!!

Just got back out into Gonzales where I took my son to his doctor's visit (he's doing better, praise the Lord) and we dropped off some of his under 6 month baby stuff at a distribution point at the Tanger Outlet Mall.

There are rumors flying around that Ascension Parish and East Baton Rouge Parish are being looted and carjacked like crazy. The Ascension Parish Sherriff was on the cable tv twice this morning denying the rumors.

I want to gladly report that the rumors about Gonzales and Ascension Parish are UNTRUE

It's actually more calm here than it was yesterday. Gasoline is running out at some stations, but at those with gas, the lines are shorter than yesterday. There is a police presence all around. People are behaving well here. There are some problems in Baton Rouge, but the rumor mill has escalated them 1000% of what the reality on the ground is.

I have family who works for EMS in Ascension and they have not had ANY increase in calls for crimes such as breaking and entering or carjacking.

Bad things are happening in New Orleans right now. We DO NOT need to make it worse and imagine them happening elsewhere. We don't want police resources diverted from where they are actually needed. Most of us in the country have a personal firearm or five. We can take care of ourselves for the most part, once they get past our dogs.

God Bless Us All

Well, sometimes it's like watching a train wreck. You can't take your eyes off of it. Guess Blitzer illistrated that point pretty well.

Yes, more freepers were discounting that blogger that post that information...

They were sending armed MPs to secure the Governor and Emergency Operations Center.

"Sounds like Baghdad".

Yeah. The difference is the Baghdad terrorists have reasons for what they do, even if those reasons are dead wrong.

The New Orleans terrorists (and that's what they are) - I can't fathom why they're doing this. They have nothing to gain. Seems to me it's just killing and destruction because they can.
