:::Who was her Republican opponent and how could he/she ever lose to this empty suit?:::
Bobby Jindal, a genius, leader who HAD a plan for Louisiana. The truth is the precincts of NO are known for voter fraud. It was close race and unfortunately too many people coud not get past his being of East Indian heritage.

Wonder how Harry would get his plasma TV out of the city...on a bus? Or if he stayed in the city, how's he going to power it up.
That's the idiocy of the whole thing, what do these looters think they're going to do with the "stuff"?

Good thing it is not up to you...
Though, I'm curious - do you think people should be allowed to build vacation homes on barrier islands?

WWL interviewed by phone two NO policemen who had evacuated to Dallas, one on Saturday (he was already injured and left with his family before the storm), and his brother, who had stayed in NO until yesterday. The one who stayed until yesterday said they had no support, no leadership, and it was every man for himself trying to do whatever the police were supposed to do. The news anchor asked later in the interview when they were planning on coming back to NO, and one said, "We're staying here. This is our new home. We're from Texas now."

I just can't bear watching CNN anymore. Freakin idiots on there. More editorial than news. I only turned it on because Fox was on commercial break. Fox news is a little better.

out for a nap, going to be a long night, see you in three...
hold the fort and if it moves, cap it.

You're correct that only 4 days have past since the disaster hit.
Good thing it's a tropical climate and not a temperate one. And good thing it's not the end of September with winter approaching.
I'm usually a "glass half-full" person.
This is a great opportunity to kull the welfare class in New Orleans.
To: Howlin
I just heard that 28,000 NG have been or are being deployed to NO
THAT should tell you just how out of control NO is

A small portion from the WalMart web site - there's much more there about what WalMart is doing: www.walmartfacts.com/community/article.aspx?id=1331
EFFORTS TODAY, September 1, 2005:
- The Emergency Contact Service has been created in our stores and on the internet to allow Wal-Mart associates and customers to post messages regarding their well-being on our websites.
- We are donating the use of our parking lot in Covington, LA, for emergency services and electric utilities for staging areas and "camping" areas.
- To Baton Rouge, we are sending 10 truckloads of water; 20,000 batteries and 20,000 emergency medical kits.
- We are concentrating efforts also on helping Houston Astrodome to prepare for the people being moved to the city from the New Orleans Superdome.
- We have management on the ground, working with moving supplies, helping stores to re-open, and helping displaced Wal-Mart associates. We are taking calls from associates needing emergency assistance and sending cash through our Associate Disaster Relief Fund.
FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS Cash is what is needed most right now
- $1 million in cash donated to the Salvation Army by Wal-Mart to help them with activities such as providing 400,000 meals per day and portable showers.
- $1 million in cash donated to the American Red Cross by Wal-Mart, which will help them continue to run shelters and provide relief.
- To make it convenient for people to donate to this effort, we are accepting donations for major relief efforts at all 3,800 Wal-Mart and SAMS CLUB locations.
- To make it easy for people to contribute from home, all Wal-Mart and SAMS CLUB web sites now link to the Salvation Army and Red Cross for donation support.
- For our associates, we are providing funds through our Associate Disaster Relief Fund, which helps them obtain money for lodging, food, etc. Additionally, we are making exceptions to our pay policies for this disaster that will be based on facility and impact. Finally, we have a dedicated hotline set up for our associates in need.

NO PD had officers who were sent home right before the hurricane to get rest so as to work a shift change after the hurricane. 20 of those were in the east side, and when the levee burst they ended up on the rooftops and had to be rescued. Some of us wondered why they weren't sent with either boats, since they knew there was a real threat of flooding, or at least to a central staging area with boats.

By CNN reporting that there have been no aid workings at the Convention CenterA flat out demonstrable lie.
I prefer the "real" reporting on CNN at this moment,
Why am I not surprised.

I just got an e-mail from a college student who has a brother on the SWAT Team in Houston.
He said the situation was chaotic......murder and rapes inside the dome.
You would have us believe nothing is going on.
