President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Thank you. Apparently everyone in the MSM seems to think thre President can just snap his fingers right after a hurricane has hit and make 10,000 troops and all their supplies and equipment appear instantly. In the first 24 hours, all the roads were impassable and the storm was still hitting inland areas where many of the supplies were. Tornadoes and high weinds and torrential rains throughout Alabama and Georgia made convoying unsafe. Yesterday was really the first day that it was realistic to expect supplies to start arriving, and they did.

Pennsylvania is sending 2500 National Guard troops. But they have to be called, they have to have time to get their stuff together and alert their employers, they have to go to the depots, they have to load the trucks, and then they have to drive 1000 miles to the Gulf Coast. That is not all going to happen in one or even two days, folks! FEMA has huge warehouses in Atlanta, but they have to have drivers for the trucks and the trucks have to be loaded. This takes time!

What I find less excusable is that apparently nobody has shown up from the Pensacola Naval Air Station or Eglin or Tyndall Air Force Bases. These are huge installations only a two-hour drive away from Gulfport. Surely there are personnel and supplies at these bases that could be useful. I can't believe the commanders of those bases do not have the authority to respond to emergencies in the vicinity without 27 orders going from the governors up to the President and down through the bowels of the Pentagon.

IMO Once they start comparing Texan school to the school in LA, they may not want to go home.

Last night when watching Fox, they were at the area where the helicopters were delivering stranded folks.

Right there were Salvation Army canteens, set up, handing out food.

They are always on the front lines.

that's just the standard pack of lies from the media. New Orleans and the state of LA is one of the most politically corrupt in the nation. where was the maintenance of the pumps and the levees for the last 50 years? did they have any disaster capabilities of their own? they just sit back, something like this happens, then they want to dump it all on the federal government.
