President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Thanks. I can't get over having the fire department turned back because their safety can't be secured. Shoot to kill the perps.

I have it set at 250--because of the load on the system, John has it lowered to 20 automatically.

I think what happens is the server decides maximum page size, and if your preference is over that limit, the server makes pages (for you) of minimum size.

My default is 100 posts per page, and I am getting 100 post pages right now.

I do agree that the TOP of the post should be shrunk to a bare one-liner, with the balance of SAME information and links appearing as comment #1 (all of this is done in the "make a post" screen). That is the optimum arrangement for long-running threads.

It's morning, but I'm not sure it's a good morning. We're seeing a disaster that's bringing out the worst in people.

The best, too, but worst is winning right now.
