President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

I've been on this Board since 1998. I don't think I've ever cursed in all that time. But oh, shit. "Crisis" at Superdome.
While some of what you say may be true. You are making the exact same judgement against us that you are condeming us for. Only in this case we are here and you can talk to us. Yet you have labeled us without looking beyond what we say in the heat of the moment. You have not looked at us very deeply before passing judgement. And I don't much apreciate you making us into people who would not want to help good people in need...especially all the crap about asociating us with people who hate the poor and unfortanate. That really burns me.
Not sure what it means
Yep, did you hear the guy on FOX - o'Reilly, tonight... couldn't say enough about the Navy when they arrived today.
How many are left at the Superdome?
What is going on there?
Howlin, I love ya, but I'm gonna put you on ignore until you speak to the actual specific people and acts we can know. I'm seein' all kinds of people and events on TV, not just one.
sounds like a lot from the buses they were trying to find a few minutes ago.. not sure.. scanner goes in and out on my puter.
I am hoping that maybe I'm overreacting - but I am very concerned about the tone of the situation at the dome as portrayed on the scanner . . .
Anything I would have done would have been more than was done by this governor. Name one thing she did other than give lots of press conferences and wander off into some daydream during them?
And then tell the press that they "told those people to get out".
She had access to the President, for God's sake.
That sounds wise. I do believe anyone taking in a stranger(s) should insist they sign a document explaining the situation, and making sure the host is not liable. That might help.
there is a reply on this thread recently that made my day...lol
Thanks for that link. I have a personal interest in the police situation in NOLA.
All I know is that the very first thing they went for was the guns.
And every single person who took something that didn't belong to them is BAD.
Good post of yours, #2075.
What's happening on the scanner?
I don't think these people are the people in the attics of NO... have you watched any of this coverage? or listened to the posts here about them breaking into Childrens Hospital,e tc.
Little being said, but there's apparently a problem with buses leaving . . .
Like a people problem . . .
Sniveling waffle.
