President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

The CNN reporter is sort of rambling from incident to incident and from bus to bus, so I hope I interpreted his comments accurately.
There is no log or record of what buses are coming from where.
Yes, you're correct about that. I usually keep our television on Fox News and as I was doing chores later this morning I stopped when I saw that child in his mother's arms. I remember the heartfelt response and agitation of Shep, that these people are sitting here and don't have a clue as to where to go. The child did not look well at all. They did give them ice but how long would that ice last in that heat?
Showing the interview again... this guy is soooooo stoned...
No one could reach them by phone. Sent email to WWL. Phone contact was made with CNN.
I haven't seen the interview with the guy, just the group standin' around. I just think it's an interesting story so far.... I don't know what's up with it.
Yes. Thanks.
I have to sign off for a while for an incoming call.
You have the right stuff, and the right attitude. Thanks. You cheer me up.
Neither do I. But even though about 10 people are on the thread wanting answers, nothing but silence on what the deal was.
They left his thread up from last night and did not complain about it being hearsay etc. (considering MFH is a reporter himself...)
I frankly don't get it.
OH well. Life goes on. He is now "unbanned" if you check his profile page.
They are taking the places of the people that suffered in that hell hole of the dome. I just really don't like cheaters. And it would be very interesting to find out where the ones that disappeared into the night went to.
I saw that too, but only from the back. I was thinking maybe powers that be were using the USPS trucks to get survivors out. Stolen? Some people have zero morals to take advantage of this catastrophe to do evil.
Otherwise I've treasured your posts deeply.
They are replaying that interview with the guy on the bus on CNN. He looks whacked out on drugs, not "stress." Something is way wrong here.
anyone ever stop and think maybe hes been without sleep for 72 hours and not stoned?
thick tonight.
you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Stay strong in family and in God.
He was talking about the folks around him. Tell me the family that had the child that was suffering from sickness and dehydration were they supposed to swim their way through 5 foot of water to get to the Super Dome where they had stopped letting folks into already or how about the poor elderly woman who was brought to the bridge area by boat and could barely walk, was she supposed to swim over there. Or how about the heart patient guy, I suppose you are going to tell me the swim would do him good?
Shep was right, there needed to be some officals show up there and get the worst cases out of there and after he rported that within the hour officials started showing up and taking the worst cases away but they still did not tell the rest of them where to go!
Where is the nearest Marine Corps recruter. I'm going back in. This man needs to be protected against commies!
The guy CNN interviewed from the first "renegade bus" who appeared high as a kite did indeed say that he was in the Superdome, detailing the heat, sleeping conditions and the collecting water.
