Hostage Situation in New Orleans

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a heads up, armed looters have taken over one of the medical centers in New Orleans where the injured people were being sent. They are holding the entire staff of the hospital hostage and firing at the national guard. An FBI SWAT team has just been flown in (from Baton Rouge I believe) and they are just now getting situated. I'm not sure of any online scanners that are up monitoring the state trs. That is where alot of traffic is going on at.

LSP Troop B is requesting immediate backup. Troopers, riot squad, and national guard. He said the crowd is triple the size it was earlier and they are about to be overrun.

The location is 610 and eleshafield(spelling?).

Should I make another thread that has events going on down there? Lots of stuff has gone on and half of it never makes it on the news or anything.

Once you see people running in and out of stores willynilly , as we saw yesterday, it's a bad sign.

Agreed. Shoot a few looters now, and the rest will get the message.

I'm here in LA and just heard from a FEMA representative that FEMA just ordered 100,000 body bags. It doesn't look good here.

It is sad and amazing to me that a city in America can devolve into this kind of mess in less than 24 hours without the thin blue line in place.

I saw footage last night showing a couple of the members of that "thin blue line" looting a New Orleans Walmart. When you see uniformed cops joining in with a mob of looters to get their share of the loot before it's all taken, I think it's safe to assume that the social order is breaking down. At least in that local area it is.

Oh, yes and the dvds and vcrs and tvs are necessary for their survival also. No looting is acceptable. Yesterday Wal-Mart was trying to hand out necessities to people but they were overrun by looters and had to give it up. Most of these people are not taking food, diapers etc. They are taking electronics and other devices they think they can sell after the disaster is over.

Looting was not necessary because supplies were being handed out to people who needed them. Shooting looters is the only way to restore order, and that means the cops who are looting should also be shot on sight when they are observed looting.

Shawn Hanity and Bortz both said on the radio today that they can understand taking food/water in a situation such as this. Bortz also said that anyone looting anything else should be shot.

The only people I've seen "defending" looters are those of us who would give exceptions for food and water. I've seen no one defending any other action.

Looters around the city freely cleaning out stores (Amazingly Honest Account) - There are comments on this thread condoning looting of not just necessary supplies, but jewelry, televisions, etc.

Maybe we need to recall the mayor!

Actually, I think we should send the mayor in to reason with these looters.....

A good rope would leave more on display. Hang them in the trees, and put a sign saying, "this was a looter"!

No unfortunately, these people were dead before the looting began. That's the sad part. Please also pray for the National Guard troops who are in NEw Orleans and who are being sent in there. My husband is one of them who may be sent in.

This is to anyone. Not just you HairOfTheDog.

What about the bank vaults? Were people given time to clear out their bank boxes? Is it going to be a treasure hunt some day?

I don't know. I would imagine banks, like the casinos, took their cash, but I don't know how many people would have thought to go clear their safety deposit boxes.... when they only had a few hours to batten down the house and pack up and head out.
