We have to get over this addictive fixation with Hollywood!

Yeh, good luck, I'll be rooting for you.

Sorry, but your post is pathetic. The President has done a fabulous job, planning, executing and getting all the oars in the water.

If you wanted fake tears and grandstanding, look at some tapes of Clinton if you have any.

I was very impressed by the speech. Short, businesslike and to the point. No histrionics.

Okay.

Sorry I called your post pathetic. I had just watched the President's short speech and was so impressed and I was just momentarily put out by your desire for a sermon.

You were just stating your feelings, and doing so nicely.

I am a bad girl. I shall reform.

Soon.

The Northeast uses 70% of the heating oil in America. Guess where we get it from?

Thats right, the Gulf Coast. We do have a lot of NIMBY ecoidiot types who are going to have to explain to their fellow New Englanders how come heating oil costs more than Chivas this year.

I would guess splitting a few more cords of wood is in order this fall.

There is no moral difference between the bastards jacking up gas prices on inventory already purchased and the bastards looting in the streets of New Orleans.

Very well said.

I pretty much agree, but some here earlier have explained to me that it was a "lay out the facts type speech" (post # 642 was very excellent). I'll go with that, but I was hoping for something with a spark near the end.

I've listened to a few fair-minded people speaking of G.W.'s speech in the past two hours on the media, and they were far from impressed.

I've watched G.W. make great speeches and make really poor ones, and I've seen him do badly in interviews. But he is what he is. It just seems that he is so inconsistent in his delivery.

But maybe we should wait for his next speech on this tragedy for him to rally the country.

MDA Telethon this weekend: I was thinking this may be the first time they don;t exceed the prior year's take, given that charitable money is going to be split between them and the disaster struck.

This'd be a real good time to stfu and figure out a way to help.

There'll be lotsa time for pontification after the dead are buried.

You are doing the math backwards. LOL! When it is 11:56 pm here in the east, it is 8:56pm on the west coast. So you can actually see the speech in prime time. Be warned that CSPAM is notorious for switching the President's remarks from their posted times. But this one is too important for them to mess with, I hope.

In view of the hurricane, they should
not hold the MDA Telethon. (And I
know Jerry Lewis, however, his cause
I do not share.)

I have 3/4 of a tank, but I only use a tank a month. If I walk to my local supermarket and only hit the post office 1x aweek to ship the stuff I sell, I have enough gas to keep me up and about town probably well into October.

Please don't change, bad girls are fun.

;-)

By the way, see posts # 642 and 652 to see how we FReepers can disagree.
