President Bush to address the nation on Hurricane Katrina...has flown by the damage on Air Force One on way back to D.C.
I'm afraid that is what is going to happen; the ACLU will be there to tell them what their rights of "movement" are.
Those hoodlums w/guns and those trying to break into locked hospital doors should be shot on sight. This is no time for due process and defense lawyers pleading them down to lesser offenses. I mean every word of this.
I wasn't aware I wasn't being an "adult".
Please don't compare a Bullhorn speech after a declaration of war to a natural disaster.
You seem to be the only one that has a problem thus far with his words. Which means it didn't do the job for YOU. The Majority seem in disagreement with your opinion.
There are 78,000 already in shelters. The 23,000 from the Super Dome will be moved to Houston.
Ordinarily I would agree, however, listening to Landrieu and Breaux this morning, they were gushing with praise over how quickly the President was at the ready. He's an administrator first and that's precisely what's needed at a time like this.
"looting has escalated to mass chaos"
BRAVO!
Yep...that's exactly what I was saying!
In answer to an earlier question about Rick Perry...Rick Perry was Lt. Gov. who became Gov. after George W. Bush was elected to the Presidency. Perry filled out Bush's term, then won on his own. He is not all that popular now, but I won't get into that. Some of that might be his fault, some of it is not and is typical grousing and complaining against whoever is "in charge". Texas has not elected a Democrat Gov. since Ma Richards, and I swear she was an aberation.
Let's be adults?? You're the one that is so needy that you need the president to comfort and inspire you. Most adults want to know what is being done RIGHT NOW to keep more people from dying, giving them food, water and shelter. This is about them right now, not YOU.
I heard something about martial law earlier today.
I could be wrong, but it is likely that "shoot to kill" looters might be the order soon.
Amen!
It wasn't all you stated, but really not in the mood to continue. There is a disagreement and that is the end of it.
I love what you wrote, daybreaking.
A checklist is *very* helpful to those who are impacted. I remember in the wake of 9/11 taking a *huge* amount of comfort when Guiliani would talk about what trains were running, i.e., "the N train will be running on the F track to West Fourth, the R train will be running ..." I work a few blocks from the World Trade Center and could not return to work until the next week but hearing Guiliani talk about subway routes made me feel that someone was trying to turn chaos into order.
pfffffffff....holding my breath waiting.
I think it's time to ignore poutin' pauly...
Had the same feeling when hearing that looters are entering homes of the dead, crawling over bodies and stealing everything in sight.
Some idiot interviewed on foxnews tried to explain the fear and anguish many are feeling as a reason for the looting and the RAPING of a woman last night. Surely we live in parallel universes.
Looters of food and water I can condone. Looters w/TVs and guns.......NO WAY. Shoot before they do. One policeman has already been shot by these hoodlums. Some have been trying to break down the doors of Children's Hospital....probably to steal drugs needed for the treatment of CHILDREN. Such criminals have forfeited their "right" to live imo.
ACLU to EWs: You are infringing on the rights of those who want more fuel autonomy.
EWs to ACLU: Your legal briefs are decimating our forests.
I like it!!!
