BAGHDAD, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Up to 500 people died when a crowd of Iraqi Shi'ites stampeded off a bridge over the River Tigris in Baghdad on Wednesday, Iraq's deputy Health Minister Jalil Al-Shumari told Reuters.

The crowd, on its way to the Kadhimiya mosque for an important religious ceremony, panicked as rumours spread that a suicide bomber was preparing to blow himself up.

Earlier at least seven people died in three separate mortar attacks on the crowd.

And Robert Kennedy Jr said the people of Mississippi got what they deserved because Haley Barbour talked the President against signing Kyoto.

There is serious evil in the souls of the Kennedy family.

Amen and Amen. Just listening to Rush talking about the disaster in New Orleans and Mississippi. Just love that guy. He says, "I believe in the people that make this country work. You won't find the anti-war activists or environmentalists down there helping. You will find people whose faces you'll never see' people who you'll never know. Just good Americans, helping other Americans out in a time of disaster."

I bet I get banned for swearing but no other word is suitable.

You won't get banned, this time anyhow, but you'll need to find something else in the dictionary.

As for those tempted to post foolish remarks about these deaths, think twice, lest a suspension or worse befall you.

ABC's Nightly News cast is reporting a staggering 850 people dead and over 800 injured. This is beyond comprehension and back to back with the fear thousands lost in hurricane Katrina.

A railing collapsed Wednesday on a bridge packed with Shiite worshippers marching in a religious procession, sending crowds tumbling into the Tigris River. Another Iraqi 'bridge', another time in horror - Americans murdered by barbaric animals

According to the BBC, the death toll is over 1000 and it could go higher.

As an American, I regret the loss of American lives.

As a human, I regret the loss of human lives.

Is this a case of someone yelling "fire" inside a theater?

Good Lord, this is even worse. You are right. It's just barbaric, a real terrorist instigated horror.

I wonder if they're fond of Nancy Sinatra?

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.

Many thanks1 Years ago, in the fifties, there was a song called "The Bristol Stomp". Somehow, it popped into my head.
