It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....

Ie: Y'all read it wrong.
You are right.
A large percentage of donations to the Red Cross go to maintaining their bloated bureaucracy.
The Salvation Army and Operation Blessing are FAR better.
"They are being told not to provide any numbers right now.
We must be ready for what is coming."
Yes that's right you guessed it...the VRWC Ice Trucks...fresh off their 2004 summer tour of Florida are on the way to Louisiana to hide the massive piles of dead bodies from the public. *rolls eyes*
Once KKKArl is done hiding the evidence the official FEMA death toll will be less than 1000.[/sarcasm]
..fled to Harrison County Police Dept. in Gulfport, Mississippi....
.. (he's retired policeman & his other daughter works there)....with his family--- daughter, son in law, and granddaughter....
..because they thought the facility substantial to protect them from the storm...
..and we haven't heard from them since.
I know lines are down....and communication nil....
..but he fled on Sunday, kinda at the last minute...
..and I hear the devastation is terrible in this area.
Just letting you know.
His name is Toby....a dear elderly gentleman.
At least I had a point, what's yours?
You know what they say when you have to resort to personal attacks...
"It is a truly humbling tragedy that has occurred. Humbling."
Too true. Deep sympathy and empathy for those suffering in Mississippi.
Hundreds died here in Bombay a few weeks ago when the heavens opened and the worst floods in Indian history hit our city. Utterly powerless in the face of nature.
Om my GOD!!!
CNN is showing bodies in Slidell, La.
And they're ALIVE!!!
Infact one of them is talking into a microphone right now.
"They said gulfport and biloxi were not at all expect something of this magnitude and the sudden turn just before landfall caught many off guard.."
I've heard this before and given what happened during Camille, I just can't understand it. This will be even worse than Camille, but good Lord people, hurricanes have shown us time and time again what they can do. NEVER, EVER ignore an evacuation call, ESPECIALLY if you live right on the coast. The coast may be beautiful, but it's deadly.
I hope, and pray, your friend is mistaken. I have not heard numbers like this yet anywhere else but that does not make it untrue.
You had no other point than to be a cheerleader for the hysterics in here.
Look, you're actually right about that. I tend to stay away from ad hominem, but this time I strayed.
Before I go to work, the last think I'll say is that this New Media Good - MSM Evil bleat is not really brilliant. When it had a technological monopoly, the MSM veered toward lazyness and bias, but there were always great traditional reporters. And the new media, including a poster on FR, is just as capable of mistakes and irresponsibility as the worst of the MSM.
So we have to take each report and reporter on its own merits, and IMHO, this report has no merit. But the proof, one way or another, will emerge within the next week,
Being taken out 30 at a time STOP
Whole Families drowned in houses STOP
People Washing up on shore STOP
Skeptics lack the intellectual capacity to put together all information to create a full picture of an event or situation.
Why the vitriol? This event is emotional enough. Let's calm down. Can you imagine if, on top of this, another natural disaster occurred on the heels of this, and a suitcase bomb exploded in New York? The hysteria here would ring out in a deafening way. We have a kind of kinship here and should try to treat one another respectfully, because tougher times may lie ahead and this net of information which is FreeRepublic depends upon our goodwill to one another.
I know you are near to Mississippi and must find this quite amazing, as well. V's wife.
