Astonishing Exclusive From Mississippi [hundreds if not thousands dead]
Paramedic Rescue Operation | 8-31-05 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 08/30/2005 10:10:45 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

It is with heavy heart I write this...

I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.

He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.

Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.

They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.

The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.

The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.

More to follow....

No, this is where you step back, take a deep breath, and use some of your self-discipline to examine your behavior and decide if it is fitting of the uniform you are priviledged to wear and I was priviledged to wear for 32+ years as well.

I still think he posted an uncorraborated story...

I think we can agree on that.

"If you are looking for me to post cell phone numbers,a name of my best friend working this on the ground, and anything else...you can suck wind."

What I'm looking for are basic 1st year journalism school techniques. You are lacking them in this story.

"You have tried to make this thread all about you and it is failing. This thread is about what is going on in Mississippi."

I said one thing..."I was skeptical"...then all your apologists attacked me.

Was I just supposed to sit there and take it?

BTW look around sparky..I'm not the only one who's doubtful.

"This is simply not the case as to what I was told by a former member of the Army, current paramedic and nurse."

If you say so.

"I never claimed to be CNN,Fox,or MSNBC.'

That's good to know. Cause I'd hate to think they'd do as shoddy a job of reporting as you have.

I have done nothing in this thread to do anything that would do dishonor to the uniform I wear.

I do not appretiate you tryinng to use that as a means to shut me up.

FYI:

Anderson Cooper just did a piece on the RECOVERY (as opposed to the rescue) efforts in Miss...showed the trucks with recovery workers..the body bags..and walking into a houses after having been boarded up for 3 days..with families dead inside..the smell ..he said...permeates the entire area.

Interviewing the guy in charge of the recovery..he said..there are a lot of dead people along this coast..

From what I have read, I think you are taking things a little too personally.

And I earned the right to talk to you that way. I do not denigrate your service, but you are not beyond reproach.

Everyone had 2 or 3 days of notice.

Aren't you the nut that thought people should have been out in the storm in wheelchairs trying to get just a mile away?

I checked. Yup. That was you Mother Theresa.

Each alone is responsible for ourselves; the lucky have help.

And the unlucky elderly, ill and disabled get no sympathy or understanding from you. They should have CRAWLED out. Right?

Your compassion and understanding underwhelms me. I hope you never need what you can't or won't give to others.

"The least of these"

thanks for the clarification;

"With forecasters warning of a category five storm, the president made sure the federal response would not be delayed by already declaring emergencies in Mississippi and Florida just hours after a similar declaration for Louisiana. Such declarations make federal aid available to assist with disaster relief, but they are rarely made before a storm even hits."

"Pinged your buddies because you can't debate without them?"

What? I've been her 3 years and still don't know how to use a ping list.

I don't have to call people in to pile on.

"Whole towns have disappeared and you think that area is ok."

Please show me a link where I said that.

'Fox is reporting people dead in Gulfport/Biloxi and looters stepping over the bodies to get their goods but, hey, just a FEW are dead."

I'm still waiting for the reports of the bodies being "plucked down 30 at a time"..."hanging from the trees"..."whole families being washed ashore"

You know...the claims made in the OP.

"Most of those cities are gone but everyone lived, right?"

That is your claim not mine. No one..even myself have doubted that people died. What was and still is suspcious and uncorroborated is the wild claims made in the OP.

And when they don't pan out...you shift focus to the dead and dying in New Orleans...which was NOT part of the Op or the original discussion...as a way to CYA.

If you think God is thrilled, happy, winking at rampant infant murder; glorifying of homosexual behavior and relationships; alcoholism; raging sexual acting out of every stripe; greed; rebellions of many sorts etc.

Then, I think you might do well to trade your defective Scriptures in for more accurate ones.

What book are you reading ?

Let's try these:

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son

My God grieves when one of these dies and is condemned.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance

The Father's response to Jonah's anger over His sparing Nineveh shows me His heart towards the lost:

"You have been concerned about this vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"

Answer me this - Does God love the people who have died in this disaster or not?

God took a great risk when He gave men the freedom to reject Him ... but Jesus shows us the Father's heart towards even those:

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you."

They were doomed, but He wept over them.

Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live.

Looking back at the suffering of the past couple of days ... have you shed any tears for those that were lost or has all your energy been spent spewing your oh so delightful "they had it coming - turn or burn" message.

This will be my last go-round Quix, pearls before swine has kicked in.

People too foolish to think realistically for themselves waste valuable time relying on political hacks for the obvious. Perhaps post-modern socialism has stripped common sense from even Biblebelt Americans.

The hacks will seldom say smart things openly, which while wisdom for individuals is a "falacy in composition" (aka stupid for the unwashed masses). "It is manditory to leave if you're in your SUV, but for those walking, stay put - out of our way." No hack would say to all with only hours to spare, RUN!" because hundreds of thousands would die in the streets. Hacks STATEMENTS wait until it's too late.

New Orleans is a suicide bowl. Elsewhere along the Gulf Coast is only a few feet above calm seas.

Why in HELLo wait when any thinking person can understand NOAA's warnings to evacuate inland?

Thousands of fools and some plain unlucky died and shall continue to die because of their lack of self-preservation. Common sense is so uncommon these days.

Have Americans learned anything?

"From what I have read, I think you are taking things a little too personally."

No. I'm not. Go back and read my original post wayyyyyyy back. I made a simple clear statement that I was skeptical of the story due to a hearsay alleged phone call.

That's when the other hysterical people in here focused on me.

BTW...you would execute a fire mission against an enemy target with just hearsay one of your troops had with a buddy on a field telephone would you?

I know you wouldn't.

The OP is doing just that here and expecting us to automatically believe it with this story.

Whole towns have disappeared and you think that area is ok. Fox is reporting people dead in Gulfport/Biloxi and looters stepping over the bodies to get their goods but, hey, just a FEW are dead. Most of those cities are gone but everyone lived, right?

What I don't get is why so many are so bitterly and insanely eager to find and believe the highest possible estimates of the death toll. It's like a bizarre fixation.

It reminds me of all those people here at FR after 9/11 who absolutely craved that it be a dire punishment from God on America. Of course, given Falwell's and Robertson's track record on 9/11 and AIDS, we'll hear from one of them soon. My guess is Falwell since Robertson is still enjoying the reaming he got over his assassination speech.

Why do people live in Trailers in Kansas?

Why do people build on the San Andreas?

Why do people lives on the coasts?

I am sure the answers will vary, but while NO was set up for a disaster, efficient planning could have prevented the human disaster. Maybe NOT the property disaster, but the human disaster for sure.

but you aren't going to walk out of NO and into safety in anything less than 3 days. Most of the people that have been stranded don't look to be in ANY shape to be able to walk that far either.

I think your rant about hacks is really misplaced.

They are called leaders for a reason. In this case, the leaders of New Orleans failed their citizens.

You need to check my posts. I answered ONE question that you asked and pinged you because someone asked me to.

What? I've been her 3 years and still don't know how to use a ping list. I don't have to call people in to pile on.

And in post 2264 you pinged George W. Bush and tfecw when responding to me. You pinged them and their names show in the "to" field. Multiple names don't show up automatically.

I said one thing..."I was skeptical"...then all your apologists attacked me.

This is a bald-faced lie. No one here would have had a bitch with you if all you did was say you were skeptical. You had to try to attack the veracity of MFH to make your skepticism more plausible. When you saw many other FReepers with MUCH more familiarity with the poster tell you you were out of line, you redoubled your effort and attacked all of us as naive hysterics.

Again, you sir, are a liar.
