Nor will you admit that txradioguy, George W. Bush, myself or others had no issue with the estimated deaths. Wrong. Read lugsouls posts. They disagreed with the numbers named by an eyewitness.

I was roasted when I pointed out Monday that New Orleans got the big one and did not "dodge the bullet". Sadly I was right. Some are calling New Orleans the American Atlantis, Pompi might be more accurate.

I stand by my statements. Four communities. Like the article said. There was no "article." It was heresay, remember?
If anyone had told me yesterday the name George W. Bush would make my skin crawl today I would never have believed it.
To: My Favorite Headache
FWIW, Michael Medved just opened his program and said, among other things, that the death count *COULD* be in the tens of thousands, that nobody really knows yet.

Good catch. Yes, maybe it was seven after all. I guess I'm still wondering how one person visited all those areas in such a short time in the middle of a massive natural disaster.
Depending on what he does besides just being a nurse and taking into accout he is former military his services may have been needed in multiple areas. If one community was completely desimated & there were no signs of life he may have been moved to another and then another.
Given what little we know at this point this person that MFH talked to could have been trucked or flown to many spots, there is really no way to know. So again as I have said before we all need to just settle down & wait to see what comes out. If the numbers are not as this person said then that's great but if they are then some have been arguing for no reason here when we all need to be pulling together to give each other as much information as we can.
Theres no sense in the arguing/fighting/bickering around here today. There are a lot of bodies down there in the water, in the rubble, just everywhere... Time would be better spent praying for for all those affected & giving what info you have.

I didn't dodge anything. You've been calling MFH and his friend liars. YOU and your "friends" are now trying to backpedal.

Military money is always moved from pot to pot. War always has priority.
And well it should.
On the issue of coastal/flood plain intrusion - I absolutely agree with you on the issue of building cities along the paths of hurricanes. In the case of New Orleans, however, it's been there for hundreds of years. But scant attention has been paid to the levees and overall conditions of the city IMO. Maybe a little more planning for catastrophic events and less planning for Mardis Gras would be in order?

Local weather and city officials told residents in Miss along the coastal communities to go into the closet and put a mattress over their bodies if the wind took off the roof of their house.
The surge rushed in and they drowned in large numbers.

Sadly, MFH has proven himself, and his sources, credible again, GWB. I hope you will eat crow and apologize to him and everyone else you have insulted in this forum....
I'm waiting to see the actual reports and confirmations of these numbers. And the accounts of rescue workers.

At this point even if you're right I have no objection to moving money to the war effort from the Corps of Engineers.
The locals should have their priorities straight and it appears that NO was living on borrowed time.

Speaking of professors, a grad student could make quite a qualitative dissertation study about a thread like this analyzing comments/changes, you name it, of a living organism, a microcosm. Like being inside the SuperDome now....

I don't think George W Bush can have the Mayor's link posted enough. He's been repudiating MFH and many other's posts all day, not to mention mine, as well.
To: BeHoldAPaleHorse
It's not that people want thousands to be dead; it's merely that the total devastation in the images we've seen leads us to believe that thousands are certainly dead.
The attacks on MFH were unwarranted. He brought us information when most people have none.

Sensible enough. I'm interested to see the actual reporting and hard news accounts. We'll know more by this evening.
