Astonishing Exclusive From Mississippi [hundreds if not thousands dead]
Paramedic Rescue Operation | 8-31-05 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 08/30/2005 10:10:45 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

It is with heavy heart I write this...

I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.

He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.

Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.

They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.

The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.

The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.

More to follow....

Talking to my friend now on the phone on the way home...he is telling me how people were told to hide in their closet and that entire families drowned inside of them. They were finding families inside of closets dead.

Walking up to homes and on the coastline all you could see was tile and steps. The water levels were just insane.

He set up an EMS triage at the only shelter open in Hancock County and there were school bus loads coming in...hundreds and thousands injured...walking wounded everywhere.

Wow, you could win the Tour de France in reverse with all that backpedaling...

Well, if I backpedalled even a single pedal, I retract it. I stand by my statements. Four communities. Like the article said.

"Otherwise, why even list them specifically? How much of a disaster area can one person visit in four days anyway?"

I am sure that this EMS friend of MFH visited and did more in his four days of helping in this disaster; than you will do in your lifetime. Through hundreds of posts, you have made clear your malicious nature and lack of character.

If the death count rises "into the thousands", I will stand corrected. In the meantime, and for the record: Did President Bush declare the Gulf Coast a disaster area at least 24 hours before the order came down to evacuate New Orleans? I believe this is true, and if I'm wrong on this, I hope someone will correct me pronto.

I wish I could find a definitive timeline of all official pronouncements since the day Katrina hit Florida.

Since NO didn't get the devastation that other areas did but they may have thousands dead as per the mayor, you don't honestly expect anyone of the naysayers to admit they might be wrong, do you? I don't. But I did as you asked.

Actually it was about 7 areas not 4...
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis. ... in these and 3 other beach communities.
Good catch. Yes, maybe it was seven after all. I guess I'm still wondering how one person visited all those areas in such a short time in the middle of a massive natural disaster.

Not to be insulting, but how many towns are there in Hancock County? If words are to retain their meaning, then your words initially were "four towns". Just a thought and an example of how all of us can say things in the heat of the moment that are easy to misconstrue.

The New Orleans Mayor's comments of the last hour are another data point on the horrible potential that in fact the final death tol will be measured in thousands.

Trying to be level headed amidst of the suffering and destruction I see is all I can do at this point --- other than giving my credit card numbers to:

"However, I do think there's an element of FR that wants to pretend there were few deaths because they're really irritated that this could be worse than 9/11, and yet not have been caused by Muslims."

That wins for the most assinine comment I have read today. This is a natural disaster not terrorism & there is no comparison.

I'm afraid there are many, many people in those houses and attics that couldn't get out. I heard one man say that once the water began to rise, he couldn't open any of the doors (which opened outward) due to the water pressure. He broke out a window in time to escape. Those that went into attics took a big chance too, with the only way out down into the water or cutting through the roof.

I just saw a professor from UVA who said that global warming has no impact on hurricanes in the Atlantic. Also he said statistically it is an average year as far as hurricanes go.

Oh he's going to be slammed by his academia peers for saying that.

If there are thousands of bodies, couldn't they be washed to sea? Wouldn't this be like the tsunami in that respect?
