The New Orleans police officer shot in the head by a looter Tuesday was expected to survive, officials said.
The officer, who has not been identified, was in surgery at West Jefferson Medical Center after being shot in the forehead, police said.

Saw a cop draw a bead on some woman with an armfull of loot with his riot gun.
She dropped the stuff immediatly, None of it was food (which might be understandable).
Its going to get a lot uglier before it gets better.
I don't know how it's doing tonight, but last night it seemed to have been spared. A huge tree fell into the church yard where the statue of Jesus is--and it missed the statue. The statue was still intact last night. After the looters, who knows. The looters are looking like they will do almost as much damage as the storm and the flood.

If you're talking about a "he" then you're probably talking about the governor of MS, not LA. Gov. Blanco, the governor of LA is a woman; Haley Barbour, the governor of MS has said he'd use the strongest means available to stop looting. I think he meant it, too, bless his heart.

No cop down there will bust a cap for fear of doing life in the joint. Years ago, that would'nt even be an issue.
Here's an example of where we are, young man down the street obtained a job earlier this summer at Home Depot in the garden center, he caught a individual stealing mulch. He ran after fleeing vehicle to get tag #.
They fired him for that saying it was against store policy to physically intervene! Why? Lawsuits? PC harvest being played out in NO. Enjoy the show.

If he's not running for president, he should be. I know a lot of people didn't think he was presidential material in, when, 2000 I think? But having seen how he handles emergencies, I'd sure vote for him!

The white guys I saw were looters. There were a lot of black cops, too. This should be expected where the black population is the majority. Looting is not unique to blacks, although there is a "justification" usually given because they are "righting all the previous wrongs" against them. It is a bogus argument, anyone looting under these conditions should be shot on sight, regardless of race.
I think gas stations and oil companies who raised prices BEFORE the disaster "in anticipation" are no better, by the way. There should be a law against raping the public during a disaster. When the Raleigh, NC Honda dealer spiked his prices on generators during the aftermath of Hurricane Fran, Honda stripped him of his franchise. The same standard should be held to all businesses during disasters.
This proves my point. Shoot All Looters! This officer has a family and a job. Why does a looter have a right?
It is a good sign that the tree missed the statue of Jesus. :o) As for the looters--shame on them. Aren't things bad enough without adding crime to their resumes?
